Is Ed Boon hinting at a new cyborg?
Unless they get really nutty with changing some of the storylines involving the characters, then this is younger Sub-zero he could be talking about. The Lin Kuei is the only clan that can and have turned ninjas into cyborgs. This would leave out ninjas like Reptile,Rain,Ermac and Scorpion out of the mix. But having 4 cyborgs might be a bit too much so bringing in another cyborg they should take another one out and turn him human.
I think it should be Smoke. Cyrax and Sektor have special moves that belong to them as Cyborgs with nets,flamethrowers,bombs and missiles. From what I've seen A lot of People want and like Human Smoke. Most of his special moves throughout the games can still work (minus the harpoon). And if they stay faithful to the Grey Ninja look they can work on an alternate outfit for him so the Deception weirdness won't happen again.
Now onto Sub-Zero...Because the Older Sub-Zero is in the game if they were to have his younger brother also in they'd need to make him different from his brother. I think it'd be a waste of potential having two blue ninjas with freezing powers, where's the balance there? The Cyborg idea would fit perfectly in my opinion. It could be like a different version of the Sub-Zero2/Noob Saibot storyline they had together with little bits of the Smoke/Sub-Zero storyline from MK3. Also by taking some of his later moves like the Ice Shaker and Cold Shoulder from Deadly Alliance as well as The Icy Rain/Icy Nugget and The Ice Defense from MK vs DC he could be different from his older brother and by also giving him an ice version of Sektor's Flamethrower (but instead having maybe liquid nitrogen in it instead of fuel like I assume Sektor does) it would make him more of a defensive and close-combat type of fighter. If they use the liquid nitrogen thing for his Sektor move and the ice shower(enhanced version would make him freeze the liquid using his natural powers before it hits the opponent turning that falling liquid into a block of ice) but keep his cryomancing abilites in as well and minimize it's power to Frost's level so he couldn't just have all of older Sub-zero's powers.
But you still need to include his MK3 costume whether by DLC or updating said costume into something like Cyrax's Alternate in Deadly Alliance. In which case if you want MK3 human sub zero change the liquid back to his old ice versions.
Also, Yes I know Noob Saibot wouldn't be created as a result of this but I was never a fan of his anyway. And I think Sub-zero 1 should get some more character time now that He's back.
Of course that's if all the characters I mentioned (besides the ones shown at E3) are even included in this roster.

What he mans Is: Events could change, here are a couple of exmaples: Liu Kang dosent win, Kuang Lao does, Scorpion dosent die, Infact his the one that kills Sub-Zero and Sub-Zero becames a Hell Spawn, you got me? but the Cyborg Is a possibilty, but remember those are just exmaples, they dont need too happen In-game.

It's a possibility and that's why I wanted to describe how that possibility could turn out.
And yes if those examples turn out to be true (like my cyborg and your Sub-zero hellspawn examples) they do need to happen in-game. Those examples affect what they look like and their special moves. Otherwise we're just playing a revamped version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy with the story ripped out and replaced with a new one which doesn't make sense in the long run. They say they are going to change things around. They should make it feel like it as well not just have the story being changed but the characters stay the same as they've always been.
In DA to Armageddon, They killed Liu Kang and turned him into a zombie. Should they have ignored that and kept Liu Kang as a human being for both primary and Alternate costumes in Regular mode while the ending depicted him as a zombie? No, Because it wouldn't make sense.
I just think that Boon saying The cyborgs being changed around and Liu Kang losing sound too specific a thing to say to be just vague examples not being thought out or considered. But anything can happen I suppose. We'll have to see once it comes out or more announcements show up.

those ideas are awsome but couldnt the sub-zero they show still be the younger one just the one in MK2 but id love to see smoke as a human again i always thought smokes alternate costume in deception(the non robotic one) was just him as a demon cyborg. the smoke from shaolin monks was human for sure and he looked tight

The MK staff confirmed thiS sUBBY Is Noob Saibot. (AKA Boon Tobias xD) But maybe, just maybe the Younger Sub-Zero this time around Is a Cyborg, while the older one Is still alive, but thats just a estimate.

Hmmmm, this is very interesting. I'm loving just how much they intend on fucking with the old skool story, and completely messing with out heads.
I'd love to see an new cyber, but I was thinking does it really have to be Repile, Ermac, or the likes of them? How about a female cyber? We ain't seen Kitana yet, she chould have been automated. Since the story is changing from what we all know and believe to be the truth to something that will keep us all off gaurd, then this is entirely possible. They could automate anyone. Not just male ninjas... Hell, not just ninjas at all! Nobody is safe now. When this game gets released, you could by it, bring it home, and discover yourself going toe to toe with a cyber-shokan.

A cyber shokan would be very badass! It reminds me of Zangief's third costume in Super Street Fighter IV where it's Mecha-Zangief!

if they do make a new cyber ninja would it still be a lin kuei, if not the young sub zero then wouldnt they have too make a whole new charecter like maby hydro from the mk mugens....i gess they could also make it like the lin kuei took some random charecter and then turn them into a cyber ninja against there will............i think a chamellion cyber ninja would be neet either as a secret or just a charecter too.

Not nessacerily. If they are really messing with the story, they could do almost anything. Maybe the someone stole the Lin Kuei's blueprints, and that's why you've still got Sektor in the house. Perhaps Shao Khan does? Or then again, maybe the Black Dragon?
Of course, I could be completely off with these ideas. I'm just trying to think as far outside the box as possible. Expecting the unexpected.

good theorys wether there rite or wrong. and sice every things gunna be different they might not be to far off if off at all... who knows?...im just so excited to see wat the final outcome of the game is and i also cant wait to play storymode

I really believe just about anything could happen in this game. Re-writing everything that we believe to be true in the MK universe.
I think Kano would make a fine cyber. We haven't seen any pics of him yet, so bets are still on. Perhaps he was kidnapped and automated by the Lin Kuei... or then again, maybe not

i agree with both there hasnt been a cyber female or shokan they should totally make that but not in mk9 id like to see it in the next 1
