I think that's so awesome.
If you look closely after Scorpion does his fatality in this video, you can see his mouth part of his skull because of the mask being chipped away. You can also see a skull area on his eye but its kinda blocked off by the sword.

They have another eye.... and for Kombatants like Scorpion, that dosent effect them at all.
