Something I was thinking about recently is that a couple of the more recent MK games have come with versions of previous games. For example, the special edition of MKD came with an "arcade-perfect" version of MK1, while MKSM came with the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 version of MK2. Do you guys think MK8 should be released with a version of UMK3 or MKT, or some other previous MK game for that matter?
Personally I'd love it if they released a special edition of MK8 similar to what they did with MKD, which comes with MKT. Considering that is the only game where you can play as every character from the first three games plus some new ones, and the fact it represents the "trilogy of events which comprise Shao Kahn's final attempt at taking the Earth", I think it would be better to release MK8 with MKT instead of UMK3. As for which version of MKT, I'm kinda torn. On the one hand the Sega Saturn/Play Station verion came playable with Kintaro and Goro while the N64 version did not. The N64 version also didn't come with unmasked Sub-Zero. I think the Saturn/Play Station version has a little more going for it, though if MK8 came with either version I'd be happy.
What do you guys think? _________________

I'd probably choose MKT. I agree that it would be fitting to have the game encompassing the first three games should include the game that kind of already did the same thing 14 years ago.

Knowing Europe's luck we won't get an oldie built in even if the rest of the world does. Biggest kick in the teeth for me was while playing all the Smoke missions in MK:SM. Finally completed them, and unlocked MKII only to find that it ain't built into Europe's copies of the game. Bastards.
Anyways, considering it's covering MK1-3, I think if it was to include and game it should include to first three full games. Perhaps the first game could unlock after you beat through the story relating the original game in MK8's story mode. Unlock the second one after MKII events... and so on. Lets be honest, these games are tiny in comparison to the amount of info todays dicks can hold, so it shouldn't be a difficult task.
Only thing I'm worried about though is the legal side of things. Do WB have the rights to all the old stuff too? Would they be allowed released them? _________________ Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen!

I think that MK9 should definitely come with MKT. I don't think they'd wanna put UMK3 in because they did it for Armageddon. I wouldn't have a problem with that but if they can remake MKT for it with maybe better loading times or something like that. _________________

Didn't know this game would come on a dick. I guess we would need to buy some sort of extra attachment for our consoles to get the game to work properly.

Hahaha, You read my whole rant, and only noticed the word Dick. You'd put Beavis and Butthead to shame. Well spotted though, I totally didn't mean that. It was suppoesed to say discs. Hehe, I'll admit defeat though. My bad, hahaha.
I'll be double checking my posts from now on
"Ahuh huh huh. He said dick. Huh huh huh"

Hehe, yeah, I worked it out that it should have been discs, but I couldn't pass up the moment to be immature. It's only rarely where I'll see a big wall of text and go "TL, DR". That's only if it's on a topic I'm not that interested in.

That's the funniest typo I've seen this week. I had no idea games like MK could be contained on...those.
Anyway I'd prefer Mortal Kombat Trilogy to accompany MK9 on a Kollector's edition along with more bonus content. They could also put it on PSN/X-Box Live so no MK fan misses out.
Also I believe in one of the interviews with the MK guys (It wasn't Ed Boon or Steve Beran but His name escapes me) that UMK3 was taken down because of legal troubles and they were working on getting those games back. But don't quote me on that. I'm not sure how accurate that is.

If you hadn't said anything I would have - I noticed the error too, and it took me a moment to figure out what he actually meant to say. Gimme a break though, it's 4am here.
Back on topic though, if they do include MKT they need to make sure they fix up the loading times and some of the glitches the game had. Also, I forgot UMK3 came with MKAR since it was only for the limited edition which was a PS2 exclusive (which is utter BS if you ask me). As for WB's rights to the older games, I would think they would have them since they bought Midway right out. Might need some permission from other companies who worked on the games with Midway though. _________________

This is getting more embarrassing by the post
Aaaaaaaaanyways, I reckon there is a mighty fine chance of seeing one of the oldies appear on this game. Boon has said in interviews that he wants to but a lot of stuff into this game secretly and see what players find (just like he did in the old games). This could be one of the secrets in questions. _________________ Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen!

If the game does include one of the oldies, I wouldn't want it to be part of a "Kollector's Edition" of the game. It would be a little more fair to have it as a normal bonus for the regular edition. If we're gonna pay more money for the Kollector's just for an old game, they should just find a way to put it as a downloadable game on PSN/XBLA.

I dout loading times will be a problem on the ps3 as nowdays you have to install part of the game to the HDD. Most of the time this is part of the game that does the most transferring, the HDD is much faster to access. Mkt for PC that is a port from the arcade perfect on PSX is only 55mb-Without stage music and 100mb-with the lot music and all. They could make it install the copy of Mkt with all the data (55mb) then keep the sound tracks on the disk. Blueray can hold up to 50gb of data on one disk and the latest games on ps3 are lucky to use 20gb ,so a 100mb classic would be no problem for space. _________________ Frozen Smoke!

Having one of the oldies on the disc shouldn't be that much of a problem knowadays, especially with the PS3's Blurays discs. It shouldn't take that much to fit any of the old MKs on the disc. Having a classic come with the game would probably give gamers more of an incentive to get the game anyway.

With online play on the classic one too ,but i would say if they did it may only be a PS3 thing depending on the size of the knew game. I have a fealing they will be pushing to fit the game on the 360. I dont know as i have no idea how big the game will be but i think the 360 may even need two disks to fit the game. The 360 has been pushed a number of times and in some cases they remove textures from the PS3 games to make them fit on the 360. (GTA4,BFBC2 and many others) Spose we will find out _________________ Frozen Smoke!
