Just in case you were all getting annoyed and/or didn't know, Mortal Kombat will be at Gamescon 2010 next week (Aug 18th) and will be revealing new characters.
After that, there will be a playable demo at PAX (Sept 3rd-5th)
Hold on tight guys, info IS coming.

Excellent. That's only a week away. I'll lay in wait till then 
I supposed we can start placing bets now on which characters will be announced next. Ten quid says Sonya and Kang.
I'm also looking forward to hearing the info on Duke Nukem Forever at Pax.

Sorry dude, but Playstation Magazine already announced those too. Along with Jax, Smoke and Kitana. Mortal Kombat Universe also confirmed Kano and Cyrax.

I thought the mag was just guessing at what they expected to be next, as opposed to actually confirming? Either way, hopefully they'll have some pics, or video footage of the characters at Gamescon.

I really hope we get to see some more characters this time. Smoke and Rain are at the top of my list but I suspect if we see any characters it'll be Cyrax, Kano, maybe Kitana.

Actually it WAS just speculation. NONE OF THOSE WERE OFFICIAL.
... I should also mention that the MKast will be premeiring shortly after PAX.

Excellent. I'll certainly look forward to that. I really enjoyed the audio Mkasts around the release of MK Vs DCU, so I'd like to see what they have to say this time round. This will really get me hyped up, especially in video.

I just read the IGN report on the Gamescon showing. Two things that irked me about it:

Is it true that the MK Team considers that joke part of the MK canon?
Next was this:

Why the hell are PlayStation fans always getting exclusive extras when it comes to MK now? They got the exclusive limited edtion for MK Armageddon, and now it sounds like they'll have the exclusive features for the PS3 with MK8. What a piss off to XBox 360 users.
Aside from those little things the IGN report didn't offer a lot of new info, except detailing Cyrax's fatality and saying the character-select screen looks like it has 26 slots total. Hope we get to see some more screens soon.
Of the 26 slots here are the 12 we know will be in the game:
-Scorpion
-Sub-Zero (original)
-Reptile
-Kitana
-Mileena
-Sektor
-Cyrax
-Kung Lao
-Johnny Cage
-Nightwolf
-Raiden (seen in trailer, part of the main story)
-Shao Kahn (seen in trailer, part of the main story)
The other 14 I bet will show up as playable or bosses to fight:
-Liu Kang
-Shang Tsung
-Sonya
-Kano
-Jax
-Baraka
-Smoke
-Jade
-Kabal
-Sindel
-Ermac
-Kintaro
-Goro
-Sheeva
That leaves out Rain, Stryker, Motaro, Sub-Zero (younger) and Noob Saibot (is already in the game as elder Sub-Zero). The reason I can see them leaving out younger Sub-Zero is because they already have his older brother in the game. Motaro might be left out if they can't program the game with him having all four legs. Stryker and Rain are more minor characters which I can see being left out for other more popular ones. We'll have to wait and see who makes the cut though or if all of the characters from MKT become available eventually through DLC.
