There has been a lot of speculation surrounding this game's story. We believe there will be a new cyber, we believe that Kung Lao will win the MK tournament instead of Liu Kang, we also believe a bunch of other stuff but we know little or nothing for sure.
All we really know is that it's a retelling of the first three games, and that the MK Team are gonna mix it up a bit. Now, since the MK story is so tightly knit together, the slightest alterations could change everything we know about MK's history, and leave this generation of games wide open for crazy-ass story-lines and plot-twists that differ hugely from the originals.
What if Kano never killed Sonya's patner? What if Cyrax never got automated? What if Sindel never got ressurrected? What if Shang Tsung won the tournament?... and so on.
What changes do you reckon could really throw the MK universe off balance to the one that we all know and love?

Hmmmm...What if Shang Tsung didn't have his youth restored in the MK2 storyline? That, or what if Kabal isn't scarred from Shao Kahn's extermination squads?

I kinda like this idea. If Shao Kahn was merciless (as he should be) and just left Shang Tsung to rot. It would defo be interesting playing as Old Man Tsung. And this could cause Tsung to really hate Kahn too.

I'm sorry lol. I totally spaced out in the thought process. its 4:30am here.
However, the 1st post never said the "what ifs" had to pertain to mk2-3. In fact the new mk game spans the 1st 3 games so technically my what if would still hold a little relevancy right?

wow theirs so much stuff that could happen in mk9 this is probably gonna be Midways er NetherRealm studios best Mortal Kombat game ever!!but anyway for some reason i really feel like sub-zero will be turned into a robot i dunno why what do y'all think?

Too true, man. If this is playing with the history of MK, then it could effect anything. Weather it's during the first three games, or prior to them. As of now, nothing is really written in stone any more.
