I've been thinking a lot about the extent of Kombatant's powers, and how we only seem to see a very small amount of their real potential. For example- Back in MK:DA we discovered that Sub-Zero can form a sword by freezing the vapour in the air. So surely he has a lot more tricks up his cold-ass sleeves than simply finding new ways to freeze his opponent for a free hit. Personally, I'd like to see him use his powers more agressively. Lets see him uppercut his opponent, and then freeze the air to create spikes for them to land upon. Lets see him form long, sharp icicles, and use them as projectiles to stab his opponents from afar during a fight. Or even form smal icicles at the end of his fists, and use them like knuckle-dusters. He is, after all, the grand master of the Lin Kuei, so why does he keep using the same old tricks? It's getting boring.
Another example would be Reptile's tongue. I'd like to see it used mid-match as a whip. Whipping the opponent, or maybe tripping them up, leaving them open to a second attack. We've all seen the extent in which Bayonetta can use her hair, I'd quite like to see Sindel take a leaf out of her books. Scorpion could use his spear to strangle fuckers...
The list of what these characters could do if the MK Team really opened their minds really goes on and on, yet in the upcoming MK game we are still seeing the same old moves played out again. I say think comic book! Spider-Man uses his webbing in tons of different and inventive ways, Kombatants should follow suit.
Any other ideas of what could be done with these powers? What would you do if you had them?

I see where your koming from. I personally would like to see Scorpion use his roped kunai more like the rope dart weapon style that inspired it (konfirms Danial Pesina). This chic and use it. Its used in Ong Bak 2 by Tony Jaa skillfully too. Scorpion kould make the rope a blaze!

That fight scene was fuckin' beautiful razer. Would be cool to see Scorpion pull some of those moves off.
I'd like to see Raiden put his godly powers to destructive use. Just grab his opponent, make for a straight palm strike to the chest, then let loose a massive blast of lightning on impact. Pretty good for a grab, or ramp it up for a fatality.

watching that gave me an idea wat if scorpion used his spear as his weapon style when they go back to 3d if they do or if they bring back fighting styles they should totally make him do some of those moves thatd be awesome

Ever heard of balance? they just cants how th efull poteinal unless they are aiming for a incredebly broken game, an example would be Scorpion: He commands fire, he can by no effort burn everything and toast everybody's ass, but that would be 200% broken.

And, actually, In shaolin Monks, Scorpion DOES uses his spear like that.

i like how in shaolin monks opening scene were reptile raps his toung around johnny cages neck and pulls him in and bites the hell out of the back of his head. They could make a move if they change a few aspects of it, like make it faster and make them face each other obvisouly. But i rather like the way it is now, the game is still gunna be the best game of the year for me and probly years after.

I'm not saying to turn each move into an overly damaging super or fatality, I'm simply saying to play with the powers more. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Scorpion spit an occasional fireball as a projectile. Reptile does something similar by godding acid, so why couldn't Scorpion spit fire?

There really does seem to be some serious untapped potenial in the MK universe that I would love to see redeemed. Liu Kang can transform into a dragon, and teleport to set his apponent alight as fatalities. Why can't he do these things mid game? Teleport and set his opponent on fire (not for an instant kill, just a special) and return to his original position. In-game dragon transformations woulf probably be a bit overkill though.
Speaking of transformations though, Shang Tsung can morph. Why does he only morph into other kombatants? Surely he could morphy into crazy-ass shit? It's not like mass is an issue, as he can already morph into huge characters like Jax and Kintaro.
