Post subject: An interesting debate: Too much too soon? |

I read this debate on MK5.org and I thought that I'd pose the question to everyone on this board. Do you all think that we're getting too much information too soon? I know that you don't have to look, but most of us (I know I do) look anyways. We see videos of fatalities, the opening intro, parts of the DVD content, and we all know MUCH more about the characters and stories than the MK:DA website has provided. With that said, do you all feel like people (within and outside of midway) are giving too much away to the public before the game is released? We still have another month to go (NOOOO!) and already I think that most sites know A LOT about the games. Some people on the MK5.org site state that they might stay away from websites until the game comes out. Still others say that the real secrets haven't even been touched upon. I personally agree with the second group, kinda. Boon insists that there is a huge secret unlocked when all of the koffins are opened, and no one has a clue as to what that is yet. No one knows any of the secret characters and characters endings, much less half of their actual stories. Still, I'd rather learn more about actual gameplay at this point, rather than learn secret stuff that I'll want to find out later. What do you all think?

I think they're releasing enough info to keep me patient.I don't want to know everything,but i would like to see one last fatality.Kano's fatality,just to know of Got Blood is right.

They are releasing a little more information than Midway probably wanted to, but it only makes the game more enticing. So far, with the pics I've seen of fatalities (Sonya's, Jax's, Sub-Zero's, etc.) It's only made me want the game even more. The detail of the characters shown in recent pics makes the game that much more desirable in my eyes. Midway's website is obviously behind the real "411" of it's own game, which I think is actually annoying. However, I think the information posted isn't a problem with the fans out there that are waiting to see it all when the game is released, because they're showing just enough to keep people biting their nails for the release date. I'm buying it the DAY it comes out no doubt, but I think that's a statement that everyone here would make. Also, I was extremely excited when I saw the character that uses "Drunken Fist" as an art of fighting. I can't wait to play with him because I think that's one of the most entertaining styles of martial arts. I'm a huge fan of the guy that uses it in DOA 3 (I forgot his name).

I'm not buying it the very day it comes out, though I'd really like to. The reason is that I have both PS2 and X-Box and I want some reviews first to make decision ... most certainly it will be the X-Box version.
As for all the info given out ... I guess you could say it is too much. Gameplay movies and pics are OK ... some fatality teasers are OK too ... but to give out the intro movie, almost all alternative outfits for the characters ... the system the secrets will work and so on ... it is over the top a bit ...

I agree! Most of that stuff I haven't really checked out though. I probably purposely won't so it doesn't spoil it for when the game is released.

Well lets just say that with out the fact that info was released early this web forum would probably not exist. Its human nature to want to know the unknown, I think that in somethings we maybe way off in out assumptions and will never know the truth until the game is actualy released. You guys know all the rumors out there, thats why it is so hard to tell whats the truth or not. As far as videos and stuff being released, I dont mind it if gives us a chance to see what the game looks like, its not like they are releasing every ones fatality movie you know. So all in all I think that the amount of info being released is about average...keeping us on the edge of our seats.

when you say fatalitie"S"??....how many fatality movies are out there?....i've only seen Cage's....ive only seen PICS of Shang's, Sonya's & Sub's.....

There's only one full-length fatality movie available to see (Johnny's). The other fatalities are still shots (pictures) of fatalities. The moment of the still allows me to get a very good picture of what the selected characters' fatality is. Giving away info. that I'm very anxious to see, but on the same note wishing I'd never check it out for a BIGGER surprise come November 19th.
