Going back to the original topic on who should return next game.
Johnny Cage should.
Kano should but since he died(see Quan Chi's ending) Liu Kang's soul is inside his body. On idea I thought might work would be Kano's body with Liu Kang's moves and have him called Liu Kang.
Scorpion shouldn't return since he officially died although he is one of the best MK characters. Some sort of elaborate storyline should be thought up to bring him back. The game will suck without the good old harpoon and "get over here".
Sub Zero and Frost should return as expected.
Shang Tsung in effect died thanks to Kenshi but there should be a way for him to be brought back unless they think up some new higher power as the main "bad guy".
Moloch and Drahmin should return although there should be a way to unlock Moloch as a playable character next time. Fatalities should also be able to be done on him as well as giving him a fatality.
Raiden should return.
Mokap should return alongside Johnny Cage.
Now that Blaze has been brought into the storyline he should return.
Bah...I'll add to these later if I can be bothered.

first of all Kano mightn't be dead, Shang Tsung may not be dead, Scorpion may not be dead none of the characters may be dead (apart from Liu Kang) because not all the endings are true and you cant be seriously suggesting Mokap returns can you?

He's a friend of Johnny Cage's and a martial arts expert. Plus they have created the character with no finisher so they gotta use him again and give him a finisher for next time.
And Blaze better have one hell of a finisher when they get round to making his. And they better add in the good old sound effect 'Toasty!'

I suppose so. Blaze needs to come back though as he has potential plus a good storyline since he is free to roam around once more since the egg hatched and no longer needs him as protector.

From what i've unlocked so far the following could happen.
Kano's ending - Kano gets control of the dragin king's army and kills Sonya
Mavado's ending - Kano is thought to have been eliminated but survives
Quan Chi's ending - Kano is killed and Liu Kang's soul takes over his dead body.
All three fit in if done in that order. I haven't unlocked all endings yet so if any others might either fit into this timeline or contradict any of it then please say so. But as those three endings stand, they all work if placed in that order.
