|
need help w/ defense against moloch in the tournament. i am sub-zero and he always puts my in the corner and i can't get out. i have finally beat him, but barely and that's w/ my kori blade and he blocks my strikes then takes me out. any suggestions?

Suggestion:
Switch characters.  J/K
Anyways, try blocking until he makes that huge horizontal swing, then move in and punish him with the longest and most powerful combo you have. (not neccessarily his weapon.) Anyways, rinse, cycle, repeat. If he swings ove-hand--look at the ball on his hand. If smoke trail are following it, atack or jump. If not, just block it, and quickly retaliate.

I find myself blocking and then he grabs me by the head and pounds me into the floor.

If hes to close you have to knock him away or else he WILL grap you and pound you to the floor...
I use Quan chis broadswords. I block and then attack over and over until hes dead. If he ends up right next to you attck twice and then block...

I used to switch to weapon stance right away against him. then one day when I was using Cage I tryed out his regular styles, and decided that was the best way to go--you take a lot less damage, allo0wing you to fight longer. I'm more of an offensive player, every since the late MKII period, so it would seem that wepon stance's more powerful blows would be the way to go. however against Moloch, i think you need to go with strategy, THEN power. Against Moloch, you WILL take damage--try to keep it limited.
If you have too much trouble, switch to Johnny Cage and just use his nunchaku stance. Press the 1 button four times for a combo, and repeat. Moloch falls to it almost all the time.

I tried johnny cage the first time a fought moloch (I remember you saying his nanchaku was flawless or something) but I sucked with him. I beat moloch once but he dominated me in the other rounds. The only 3 characters I can beat Moloch with right now are Quan Chi, Cyrax, and Kung lao...and I usually win with 98% of my life bar intact...

Huh, violator. I guess it only works if you really know your charcter or something. When I do it, I kill him pretty quickly, but I guess it's because I'm used to him. (oh, and I do dodge a lot, so I guess...... yeah.....)
ok, well, try Kenshi or Scorpion's weapon stance (same exact moves) and do his big combo.

I beat Moloch with Reptle it's so easy because all you need to do is do his crab combo's. This is the one i used
(GC version)B,A,X. Just keep doing that and he'll die.

Actually its very easy to beat Moloch. I can beat him with every character.
Heres the trick:
First find a quick combo for your character. Subzero has a few. (Something that's lightning fast, and easy to block after your done.)
Wait for his jab, after you block it, strike with your fast combo. If he blocks it, you block immediately. He usually just jabs. After his first jab, quickly perform the combo again, you can usually get him. If you don't, block, wait for the jab, and try again.
If you manage to hit him with the combo, immediately afterwards perform the same combo again. If you hit him for the 2nd time , or if he blocks the 2nd time, remember to block imediately afterwards.
Repeat over and over again to woop his ass.
Example for Scorption:
X, X, Y-->Moloch Blocks
Moloch Jab-->You Block
X, X, Y-->Moloch gets hit or blocks
If Moloch is hit, perform X, X, Y immediately afterwards
If you hit Moloch-->Block immediately
If you dont hit Moloch-->Block Immediately
Wait for his jab, swing, or whatever-->Block it
Perform short combo again.

I just find a good chain move. and repeat that and throw in a couple jumpkicks. That usally works.
