God I hate it when people say that. When monopolies abuse their power, consumers suffer because of lower product quality, high prices, shortages, and so on. Monopolies have a huge amount of power this way, and Microsoft just loves to abuse it. That's business 101 stuff.
So when Microsoft entered the console market not to make money but to screw it up because it interfered with PC/OS market, many gamers didn't like it. And rightfully so. No telling what damage they will do to the console market.
So that's why we dislike Microsoft. At least get that straight.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but your wrong.
Worldwide market share, it's Sony, Nintendo, then Microsoft. Here's the Proof.
To be more specific:
Globally the numbers are the following from Strategy Analytics (research company):
"According to the report, global shipments of game consoles will reach 41.9 million units this year, up 84% from the 2001 level. According to the report, the Sony PlayStation 2 will account for 63% of these sales, Nintendo’s GameCube for 21%, and Microsoft’s Xbox 16%."
Also, Nintendo stated that by the end of this year, it will nab 33% of the Market Share. XBox plans to expand it's Xbox Live, which is doing considerably well and Microsoft is rumoured to be doubling it's investment into it's console this year to help it maintain it's growth.

In Japan, it's the GameBoy Advance at the top in console sales and in Game Sales, followed by the PS2, then by the GameCube, and in distant last place is the XBox.
In Europe, It's the PS2, followed by the GameCube selling 1.5 Million Units, and close by is the XBox (1.4 Million Units). XBox used to cost in Europe around $500, but they recently lowered the price of the console to around $259-300 and bundled with it free games and this seems to be working for Microsoft. Since Nintendo is doing so well in the portable sector, they are also planning to release soon a portable version of the Nintendo GameCube.
So worldwide, the Top 3 in order are:
1. Sony Playstation 2
2. Nintendo GameBoy Advance
3. Nintendo GameCube
4. Microsoft XBox

That maybe true because i know that GBA is in 2nd place... Nintendo is very proud of the by the way... but X-Box last? I HAVE ALL 3 SYSTEMS and I don't see it... I luv each one Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo for different reasons. I just can't see the GC out doing X-Box in sales as much as I hate saying that but I do mean it; the GC is by far my favorite system of the 3... but like I said eachone is gr8 in their own right...

Stryker666, You giving me a finger won't change anything (apart for it being broken had I been near). I see the world around me and I see young kids wanting, playing and buying GC. And the frown-up ones opt for PS2.
