I was thinking of the pit of spikes were the guys get knocked down and impaled.
My bad.
Anyway the weapon impales are decent and should be kept. I think they are okay. Not everyone has impales but people like Scorpion and Mavado have those sidestep and swipe maneuvres which can catch blocking opponents off guard and therefore they have their own advantage just like impalers do.

I really like the way the blood squirts out when you impale'em so I think they should bring them back only next time they should make it so you can pull your weapon back out of them to use it against them!
