How many of you guys can be the game on the highest difficulty? I sure as hell can't, and I'll give you some reasons why. The AI is incredibly cheap IMO, they can do so many combos, they block basically everything, when I block it doesn't work, and to me they know what move you're about to do. So, how many of you can beat the game on the highest difficulty? _________________ http://umkr.vze.com

Haven't actually tried it. I can do it on Hard, but not MAX. I have won a couple of matches on MAX while practicing. Gotta try it. It is a question of maximum concentration, perfect blocking, varied attacks and perfect character domain.

They were like that ALL THE TIME in Mortal Kombat 2, but nobody cares cause it's not old school to dislike MK2. _________________

There are very few people who dislike MK2 compared to those who like it. But yes, it was kind of hard in MK2. It was nearly impossible to perform a throw.

Like someone said, it's a matter of perfection. Like in all video games. Increase the difficulty and you gotta increase your performance. Most people here can half ass their way through easy mode. In harder modes it's best that you know a few long chain combos and avoid getting the same done to yourself. Block and wait for the right moment to launch a combo.

I've only played a few matches on arcade in highest difficulty and had to stop halfway through because I needed to go to work. Anyway i've been doing it on a medium setting so I can unlock all the endings reletively quicker. Then i'll give the max level a full head on run when I set some time aside.

Being able to win on Max doesn't really mean you're good, it just makes you more cocky. Just take a look at one of my friends. He practiced on max and became a real cocky asshole, yelling "i'll own you" and "i'll show you how powerful i am!" and such. Still, i was able to humiliate him rather easily despite never gotten past medium (see my earlier post) and haven't played mk for more than a week.
Beware JBK, i know where ya live!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!...ahem, sorry _________________

JK, that is true, but only because of one reason: the computer AI is not a human brain. The same thing happened to me, that happened to your friend. A friend of mine, with zero experience, came and we started playing. He even won one match.
The thing is, that you just cannot use all the high-end techniques you've learnt against a human opponent, if he plays worse than you, because he'll tend to stay deffensive and use one simple and silly move, over and over again, (like a low punch, or a leg sweep, or anything). And each time you'll try to approach him to perform some 10-button combo, he'll do it again. You can go in for projectile attacks, but that's not very interesting, is it?
So, I understand your friend. It really takes A LOT of accuracy, time and dexterity to be able to win on MAX level. And unless he was being cheap in doing that, I'm sure he has a great domain over his fighter, but against an opponent, who won't go on with cheap, deffensive tactics.
My friend liked Hsu Hao (for his insane legs and arms reach) and Bo' Rai Cho (for some special move of his or a small combo). The two characters I detest. And he actually won once.

I played the game on the MAX level and I got past the first three fights without big problems. From the fourth fight on the opponent kept on blocking and pulling off 15-Hit Combos. The only thing I could do is sidestep and strike back, which doesn't work everytime. After some time I got sick of sidestepping and quit. Oh well, I just hate cheapness so much. _________________

I wasn't being cheap! (or at least i hope i wasn't)
I used standard combos. I never used those single-hit moves (except for a few leg sweeps) I even pooled together some of the characters' single-hit special moves into improvised combos.
Hmmm, i was mostly defensive (cause from the moment the match starts, he tends to go on an all-offense attack frenzy). What i usually did was to block or sidestep his attacks, then counter-comboed... perhaps i'm simply an idiot, is that considered cheap? _________________
