They should of kept Ermac instead of putting in Kenshi! Ermac was better, but Kenshi is still tight...for a clone!

Greetings,

I have two MK1 and a MK2 arcade jamma boards at home that I switch between. I have MK1 revision 3.0 and 4.0 boards.

In the character audits page they both say ERMACS (with an S... as a plural)

Ermac does not exist in MK1 as it has been already stated several times. Just thought that I would let you all know that it actually says ermacs and not ermac

Cheers

I argued for weeks with some guys on MK5.org about this, and a handful of them believe as if Ermac is God, and that he exists in MK1. It is a simple fact that he does not and I'm glad you guys agree on this because if you didn't, I might have an aneurysm. They brought all this nonsense about Ed Boon saying himself that Ermac is there, and they cited text from EGM magazine, and then a guy sent me pics of the second article they posted with letters from people talking about it, and none of it proves a single thing other than Ed Boon likes to lie about stuff in the games, and hint around things that may or may not be in them just to get people to drop quarters or buy copies. I brought up the ERMAC DOES NOT EXIST thing from MK2 and they COMPLETELY ignored and/or discredited it, all the ties ins like Kano Transformations, Johnny Cage transformations, a transcript from 1999 of Ed Boon saying that Ermac hasn't been found yet in MK1, 6 years after the rumors started. There is a pic in an EGM magazine that shows a red Scorpion, and if I ever saw it, it was over 10 years ago, if ANYONE has this EGM and can scan the pic, I want to see it so I can tell if that was faked, because I think the whole Ermac thing was a conspiracy made up by Boon and Co. and EGM way after MK1 was released. A lot of people gave ways to obtain him that are out and out lies, like using all punches on the warrior shrine, and do a fatality infront the person's statue, or knock them down within the ring infront of Goro. Or set the difficult level to hardest, find Reptile, fight him, double flawless Fatality, yadda yadda, dance around a camp fire, take two steps forward, two steps back, put your left arm in, put your left arm out, put your left arm in and shake it all about. They even talked about in the past Ermac being even more powerful than Reptile. Not happening. ERMACS is a fake counter that cannot increase by any error caused in the game because if you're playing on mame all the errors are mame related and not hardware related, just like Johnny Cage transformations and Kano transformations not ever increasing because they don't happen. All 3 of the first 3 MKs had it. They even took ERMACS out of version 5, along with Reptile but kept Reptile Battles in the audits. They put Ermac in UMK3 as fan service.

ok, first off, you all have no idea where Ermac sprang from. It is correct that Ermac does not exist in MK1, but rather as a pallete swap of scorpion. On select versions on Mortal Kombat Arcade, after playing for extended amounts of time, you will see the word ERor MACro appear on screen, and scorpion will pallete swap to red. ERor MACro is a term that simply means the processed data has been scrambled, thus producing a look alike character.

And later Error Macro has been transfromed in to a character. But he is not a god by any mean. See him fight as a simple hechman of shao in MK annihilation. Rain had a better post than Ermac. He was shao's liutanant before being replaced by motaro ( or perhaps sindel in the movie, in the game it was definitely motaro ).

None of that actually ever happened. Ermac was NOT in MK1 in any way shape or form. It was a hoax by EGM magazine. NOT TRUE. Please everyone who reads this, understand that Ermac was a joke. The counter ERMACS in the earlier revisions of MK1 was there as a joke, like Kano Transformations in MK2 and Johnny Cage Transformations in MK3. The counter never goes up, no matter what. The EGM magazine showed a very dark, doctored photo of Scorpion on the Warrior Shrine:

http://www.darktemplarz.com/mk1/ermac

That link will provide you all the scans from the two EGM magazines it was mentioned in. If you look at the picture, and read the articles, you will see that it was a total lie. Ed Boon has both stated that Ermac is related to an error or bug in MK1, and he also said 6 years later that no one ever found Ermac in MK1, so you cannot believe anything he, or anyone from Midway/MK developement says.

Ermac was first thought to be a hidden character based on these statements, a legit hidden character that was meant to be in the game. Then after it was ruled out since no one in the world except Tony Casey said they saw it (with his friend) people started saying it was an error similar to ERMACS that is in Smash TV which is an error correction system to fix machine errors. There was no reason for this to be in the game as the game never cause errors so severe that the hardware could corrupt because of it. The picture of Ermac in the EGM magazine is so fake I can't believe anyone thought it was real. The picture is perfectly, 100%, to the pixel straight up and down, which is humanly impossible, especially the few seconds they would have had to take the picture, so it's likely that the magazine itself just doctored a scan of their own to look like it was a real photo, even in 1993, a video game magazine as big as EGM would easily have the resources to edit the colors of a photo, and place the lettering ERMAC WINS above him. Remember there was an April Fool's day joke for SF2 saying that Shen Long was a hidden character and they even had a picture with edited sprites, doing the dragon punch and what not. Well it wasn't real and they went through more to do that than what would have had to have been done to edit the Ermac picture. Everything anyone has ever heard about Ermac is only substantiated by the EGM magazine, and NO OTHER magazine ever. Anyone who has ever told any of you they personally fought against Ermac in MK1 lied to you. A good example from TotalMK, the ERMAC DOES NOT EXIST message when you beat MK2, a lot of people on MK5.org who believed in Ermac whole heartedly refused to accept that as a reason, it came down to someone delivering the actual scans from the magazine, showing how big of a lie it was. The way it is explained is ridiculous, how Ermac appeared before matches, 6 months before playing him, the fact they happened to have a polaroid with them is absurd, a polaroid with no flash on top of that.

And Sher, don't go by the movie as it has nothing to do with the real flow of storyline. Ermac can be considered a God or Spirit since he is an amalgamation of souls of slaughtered outworld warriors. That is quite a background.

Ermac is going to be in MK Deception by the way.

ok, I have explained this many times. This is how it happend.

in MK1, when you fight Reptile in the pit, very rarely, there is a glitch in 1 specific version of MK (I belive the first one with reptile) I am not sure how it is triggerd, but what happens is, Reptile turns discolored, goes Ornage and the name bar reads "ER-MAC" ER-MAC means, "error in macro" macro, is the set of sprites that Reptile uses. One of the messages when you beat MK2 is "tsixse seod camre" (Ermac does not exsist). The rumor was so strong even after MK2, they decided to add him in UMK3.

There is a pic of what people say is "Ermac" on MK1, It shows a pic of Scorpion turned ornage on the Warrior Shrine stage, this pic is 100% fake.

Regards,

TotalMK, that didn't happen, nothing like that every happened, it's all a hoax/unsubstantiated rumor. A macro is a script, or big, in this case, it's script, to correct errors, but it was a joke, and didn't really happen.

TMK, you're right, that is one fake ass fake, and I'm not getting on your case or anything, but it never happened even the way you said.

The only version of MK1 where Reptile's pallet corrupts is in the Genesis version of MK1. You must get a double flawless, with a fatality, no blocking, on the endurance match on the pit with certain flag enabled, I think 5 and 7. You will fight Reptile, and then depending on who you fight in the endurance or what flags are set, either Raiden or Sonya will jump out with Reptile's pallet, making them look green. They have their own moves and displaced animations. This is NOT Ermac, but it might be what you're talking about. Ermac and Red Scorpion never appeared in MK1 Arcade, ever.
