What the hell kind of question is that? MK was Created for Arcade then PORTED to Genesis/Snes, that is why the arcade was better. _________________ You Will Respect The Reck!

Why do you think everyone loved the arcade version of Pac-Man, but hated the Atari version? The hardware is more expensive and...well...better than consoles.

The arcade versions of the original mk games were better than the home versions, because the arcade has a micro-chip called eprom, or something like that, which was more powerful than the 16 bit home systems, interms of memory and speed. That's why it had better graphics and sound. The pc was the only home system at the time, that could have rivaled the arcade's EPROM chip. That is why the pc version was almost identical (MK1) or better (MK2), to or than the arcade versions. The PC version also used a CD-ROM which at the time could hold more space than the home videogame consoles catridges. The only problem with the cd-rom, is that if you have a slow cd-rom drive, it will take time to load between screens. I read about the EPROM chip at gamespot, under the MK HISTORY section, which can be found under some of the MK games review sections. try mk 4 for n64.

It is because the arcade is the only 'true' version. The SNES and Sega versions had stuff taken away. _________________ Yippie Ki Yay

The Arcade machine could probably run faster at the time...and the sounds were already dead on. The had to take that and convert the stuff to a home system which they probably had to change a few things(eg MK1's blood and violence) It all depends on the creators

MK1 for the arcade ran on a far more powerful processor then SNES or Gensis had. Also, the arcade machine had a lot more memory then SNES or Genesis cartridges did. Because it was an arcade machine the entire system could be designed for that game specifically, whereas the SNES and Genesis were designed in a general way to allow the maximum number of games be playable, and the MK had to try to fit into those limitations. In the case of SNES it meant having to deal with a lower clock speed and small memory, for Genesis it meant having to deal with a tiny number of colors, small number of sprites, poor quality audio system, and small memory.
EEPRom just means Electrically Eraseable Read Only Memory, or a memory chip that you could store info on and it would stay there until you sent the proper voltage through to clear it out. It really isn't very different from cartridges, and I doubt that would be any real reason for the differences. Its more the limitations of the home systems.
NeoGeo was an arcade system for your house. Their console was almost identical to the arcade machine. Thats why it cost an enormous amount of money, and so did the games. _________________ UltimateMK.com - The ULTIMATE Source of Kompetitive Mortal Kombat Information
