Quite the arguementive person, aren't you.
Anyway, Kung Lao's ending seems to fit perfectly in the storyline and the Canon guide also says that Kung Lao is the winner. The Canon guide and ran by the people of Midway... Well, people with heavy connections.

More then likely kung Lao will be the new hero of the series. But as for 'Champion' since Kang is dead, wouldn't the title of Grand Champion of Mortal Kombat become Vacanted? That would be a good idea for a future game, have ~~NEW~~ characters battle to deterime a new Grand Champion.

Hey wait a minute liu had not been champion since mk2, as in the endings it was said earth's warrior always, and in mk4 it was Surely Scorpion ( in different way ) as he dragged quan chi to hell and quan chi killed shinok before it fits. The storyline also fits for rayden and bo chai ro and well many others so you never know who is exactly the champion.
One more thing there is no different type of competition held to decide a grand champion

There are no real "champions" after MK1. Liu Kang won that tournament, but as far as the storyline, it was basically just the Earth warriors fighting the Outworld forces for control of both worlds, none were structured as a tournament. Liu Kang was the main hero up until Deadly Alliance, and now it looks like the torch is shifting to Kung Lao.

I am going to have to go out on a limb and say that I think Sub Zero is going to be the new champion...I mean dang he deserves it he's been around for ever!

To be truthful I liked SF, KOF storyline more because they had better champions, ( Though I thought MK3 and MK4 were not won by lu ), The thing is that if they make kung the new champion officially then there might be a bigger popularity slope in the game, so they would make Scorpion the champion or Subzero ( A scence showing he is facing baraka ).

Well in MKDA Le Mai ( i know it is spelled wrong) in her ending it says she won the tournmemt but her soul was used for a soldier in the drangon kings army
