Hello everyone , here are my choices ...
Mortal Kombat Best : Scorpion - Undead ninja who seek for vengeance . I like that , and the harpoon spear too ... 
Mortal Kombat Worst : Sonya - She was not very good , and her moves are quite slow ( sorry to Sonya's fan ) .

Mortal Kombat 2 Best : Baraka - That freakin monster is very tough and is moves are very , VERY bloody ! Very cool fatality too ...
Mortal Kombat 2 Worst : Johnny Cage - Very slow , with slow shadow kick and hes fatalities are quite normal and ordinairy .

Mortal Kombat 3 Best : Cyrax & Smoke - The 2 deadliest cyborg in the world ! Very fast and Spear & Net are quite effective !!! Nice fatalities too .
Mortal Kombat 3 Worst : Kung Lao - Poor combo , move , history , but nice fatalities .

Mortal Kombat 4 Best : Tanya - Very fast with low fast moves . easy to do moves and fatalities . Neck Breaker fatality is funny but effective and hot ! 
Mortal Kombat 4 Worst : Shinnok - A bad last boss , a bad copy of Shang Tsung and Shinnok's fatalities sucks !!!

Mortal Kombat Gold : ? - Only on Dreamcast , I never played it . I wish I could find someone with a Dreamcast and MK Gold that want to sell it to me ...

Mortal Kombat DA : Frost - Very fast low freezing attack , cool 13 hit combo , nice fatality ( easy to do too ) . Nice @$$ too !!!
Mortal Kombat DA : Drahmin - Slow , no combo , cheap fatality , well , what else can I say !

You still have to learn about Drahmins overwhelming combo ability. 
Anyway, here are mine.
Mortal Kombat 1
Best: Scorpion.
Worst: Liu Kang...Johnny Cage in close second.
Mortal Kombat 2
Best: Baraka
Worst: Kitana
Mortal Kombat 3
Best: Sektor
Worst: Sheeva
Mortal Kombat 4
Best: Liu Kang and Scorpion...and Sonya...and Subby...MK4 had a lot of good characters..
Worst: Reiko
MKDA

Worst- Raiden (I don't hate him though)
MK2.
Best- Johnny Cage and Kitana.
Worst- Shang Tsung.
MK3.
Best- Stryker or Kabal.
Worst- Cyrax.
UMK3/MKT
Best- Same as above plus Kitana and Cage.
Worst- Same as above.
MK4/MKG.
Best- Cage, Kitana.
Worst- Cyrax and most new ones.
MKDA.
