i dunno i was wondering the same. I never even fort of her as a tomboy. Mabe its the cap or the fact she dosent show as much flesh as the other girls.
Sonya is very attractive, i know i wouldnt mind some. I also like her rather then the female ninjas. They should have had 1 female ninja or mabe made another female ninja thats different, like shang pumped mileena with steroids or somat to make her look a lot more different.
I also thing if there are gonna be more women they should be more muscle and ugly/evil looking. I dont like the idea of all the females put in the game being attractive and having sex apeal. If i wanna look at women i got the net. This is a tournament full of rage and evil and death, could u honestly see one of the females killing the bigger male characters and bosses? i can only see sheeva doin that. she is my fav female character.

So MK is a tornament of rage and evil and death,big deal.I seem to be the only one here who like sex appeal.Sex appeal sell.The whole idea of Li Mei is great.It was about time we have another non-ninja woman.
Oh yeah,as far as saying only a big,strong woman could take out the big male bosses,are you a macho?I hope not,because i hate machos with a passion.I'll kill them all if i could.I like seeing a skinny,pretty woman taking out the big guys like Scorpion and Jax.Just thinking about killing Jax with Li Mei amuse me.

Let's see... where shall I start...
I guess I don't mind Sonya being in the new MK:DA game... she has some kool moves, but I just think that's she too generic... She just has no mystery to her... She's cute and all, but that's not enough for me! 
I myself do like sexy women in these fighting games, if they were all to be big and muscular and have bulges everywhere, then I might as well be playing a co-ed version of WWF game! To me, this is sort of a fantasy game to me... Don't get me wrong, I like Sheeva too, she has a good body for a Shokan.
But hey, I'm just glad that MK doesn't have no cute panda bears or tiger men as characters... I think that would totally kill the game! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
