Tied between UMK3 for bigger sprites and the fact that it was in the arcade and MKT for PSX for how true it is to UMK3 for the arcade and for the large number of characters. They are the best.

mk1 i liked it.
mk2 was hard.
mk3, umk3, mkt is the same and i dont think it was good any of them
mk4 was awesome too

mkgold is the best game. it has good graphics, good fatalities, and the endings are way bettert than in da.

Mortal Kombat (MK1) for me. Originality and had more of a brutal feeling for me.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy had all the basic and classic characters of the Mortal Kombat playing fields. But I'd have to say Mortal Kombat 3 is the best one out of the rest. I found Mortal Kombat 2 very difficult I could never ever get to the boss. But Mortal Kombat 3 was my favourite and also the provided the requirement and the genuity for a good Mortal Kombat game.

Tie between MK4 and MKT. I love the old school feel of MKT, and I like at the stuff Midway did with MK4.

i kno wut TOTAL-MK is getting at. MK1 felt more actually competiteve in a way with the emphesis on the tournament and also like more ancient chinese kinda feeling( and the fight backround with u inside the throne room with all the dragon logos, and Shang Tsung's head looking were u move). but anyway my favorite is 3 for the fast pace and awesome music in the pit 3

Mortal Kombat 3. It's the most fun to play, and I like it better than UMK3 because of the better, a little less cheaper AI.
