I'ma HUGE wrestling fan, have been since I was born. Anyway, did you guys know that their were characters in the now non-existant World Championship Wrestling that were Mortal Kombat rip-offs?
Glacier
You see, Eric Bischoff was President of WCW in 1996. He created a character called Glacier. For weeks they were promoting him with different lightening effects and "Blood Runs Cold" was the saying that was always on the screen. When Glacier debuted, the arena turned to blue lights and "snow" fell from the top of the arena. He wasn't really dressed like an MK character but wore a mask until he entered the ring. Anyway, I believe that Bischoff said he got the idea for the character when he saw his son playing as Sub-Zero in a Mortal Kombat game.
Mortis
Mortis was a freaky character. He didn't really imitate anyone from MK. He wore green and his mask had a skull design on it. He was Glaicer's enemy though. Maybe he was supposed to be like Shao Kahn with the skull?
Wrath
Wrath was Mortis' partner and also feuded with Glaicer. He wore kinnda like a helmet maybe inspired by Shao Kahn.
The whole story behind these guys was that they were feuding over an ancient artifact. There was also Ernest Miller who kinnda played the Art Lein, he didn't relly have any purpose with the story. Mortis went on to become Chris Kanyon and currently works for WWE, Wrath is now Bryan Clarke who works for All Japan. Glacier returned to WCW but as a comedic super-hero, he works independant federations now.
The Yeti
Get this, Yeti(meaning Abomnible Snowman) came out of a cave dressed as a mummy! He was around before the rest. The strange thing was, at the World War III PPV, he came dressed as Scorpion! Sure the mask was different, but it was almost an exact rip-off! The sad thing is, he was only in the battle royal for about 5 seconds. He was really Ron Reese.
Me being a huge wrestling fan, I thought it was cool to see these guys portraying MK characters, but now it seems really silly. Too bad the fans didn't give a crap about any of them.[/b] _________________ GET OVER HERE!

I already knew about the Sub-Zero rip-off _________________ His approach will be as silent as new fallen snow...his attack as fierce as winter's blizzard...his devastation as brutal as winter's relentless chill...he is complete (Lin Kuei Grandmaster)
So fair... yet so cold... like a morning of pale spring still clinging to winter's chill (Grima Wormtongue)
In the depths of Winter I finally learned that within me there lay an invinsible summer (Albert Camus)

Sorry, but.... I don't like fake wrestling. I know I'm in the minority here, but if it's scripted, such as the WWE, then it's not for me. _________________ Those were $500 sunglasses, asshole.

Yeah its scripted but that doesn't rule out the fact that you can get seriously hurt. I like Japanese wrestling alot better. Some wrestlers are really stiff and have no problem busting your eyes or breaking your leg. Some have competed in PRIDE fighting. The last one was Yoshihiro Takayama, he showed he was very tough and the end result was grusome. _________________ GET OVER HERE!

I actually find wrestling boring I know someone who used to think it was real _________________ His approach will be as silent as new fallen snow...his attack as fierce as winter's blizzard...his devastation as brutal as winter's relentless chill...he is complete (Lin Kuei Grandmaster)
