I'm confident that I'm not the first person to mention this but.....is Scorpion black? Or did he just get a severe tan? Being in Hell can do that to a person I guess.

Scorpion is most likely Japanese. Since he was part of one of the first ninja clans according to the Mortal Kombat games.
However, he's dead now. So Skin color probably doesn't matter.

I don't think he's Japanese because he doesn't speak Japanese, even though his Clan is, I mean look at Sub Zero, he looks like he's a Turk, or Eastern European, or are we just to assume when he says, "Get over here" he's actually speaking Japanese.
I better stop before I confuse myself.

Scorpion is japenese. Subzero is american he and his brother were kidnapped by the lin kuei when they were little there father was a part of the lin kuei and left for america. lin kuei followed and took their two sons away from their parents and their sister. Sister is not Frost.

Anyone remember Mortal Kombat: Mythologies? There Quan Chi said something when Sub-Zero asked about Scorpion quan Chi replied: "Ah, your JAPANESE counterpart.
There you have it. Scorpion is Japanese. As was his clan the Shirai Ryu.
However since Scorpion is a spectre he has no legal status.

Yeah he is. It says so in the MK Warriors section of this site.
A fifth generation Lin Kuei warrior, known by the name of Sub-Zero, once had a normal life in America. He lived there with his mother, father, brother and sister. ventually, the two sons were found spotted by the Lin Kuei clan and they brought them to China, their mother, father and sister were never seen or heard from again. The older son would soon inherit the name of Sub-Zero.
So there you have it. Sub Zero 5 and Sub Zero 6 are American. And everyone knows that Scorpion was Japanese, just because he screams in English doesn't mean its not the case, it is afterall voiced by Ed Boon himself.
