I never used the kamidogus, I just kept hitting him non stop or stayed far away uesing 'shooting' attacks

The word you're looking for is "projectiles". And such special moves should be ineffective against Onaga. That's why Raiden, Quan Chi, and Shang Tsung didn't defeat him...because all they used were projectiles. Only physical attacks do any kind of damage.

Haha lol  . Yeah, I agree with ScorpionVision. I beat him using Scorpion (without the kamidogu tactic). I just spam spear-teleport kick-sword combo-rinse-repeat  . But I refer the Liu Kang tactic (repeated bicycle kicks doing tremendous damage  ).
