I've been up and around.
Might be a new clue or something I just notice: in the netherealm there is a Ermac and Shujinko loading screen - on the right side you see someone hiding behind a pillar MK2 style. I cant really make out who it is.

Hmmm.... my first thought was that it was probably someone who you unlock by finding a chest in the Netherrealm. But the only person like that is Sindel, and it's definetly not her.
The other "unlockables" in the Netherrealm are:
Arena: Shang Tsung's Courtyard
Puzzle Character: Mileena
Alternate Costumes: Ashrah, Ermac, Nightwolf
That MIGHT be Mileena... but it seems a weird way to hint at the location of her Puzzle Combat character. No one else was hinted at that way...

I have a theory... hear me out. If, indeed, Boon didn't want people to be able to access the SUs until the GC version has been out for a little while, how would he assure this? My only thought was the timestamps in the system. All three systems track the real world date and time. And since many Konquest mode unlockables seem to be based on time/date, it seems reasonable to assume that the same may carry over to real time/date?
My biggest problem with this theory is that I refuse to believe I'm the first person to think of this. Surely someone would have set the date forward, and started poking around?
On the time related thoughts, what if, for instance, you had to look behind a certain tent at a certain time in the REAL WORLD, not a time in the game?
Anyway. I don't actually think these theories are true. Just something to throw out there for discussion. But, if someone out there has enough free time to test all this stuff out... well... let me know how it goes.
