I like Scorpion, and I respect him as a character, but I think he's over rated. No offense to those who think Scorpion kicks so much ass that he's the best. I just don't feel the same way.

Scorpion is popular because he is the most human character in the world of mk and definitely has the bad-ass factor, everyone loves a bad-ass. Plus every time you hear him say GET OVER HERE! or COME 'ERE! you love it even if he hits you with the spear!

Scorpion is a popular character for many reasons. Everyone who has played Mortal Kombat (not just fans) see that ninja in all yellow on that selection screen. That flash draws the player in and almost forces him/her to select Scorpion. Once the player is in game, it is the sense of justice, confidence and arrogance that that keeps all of us attracted to Scorpion.
He is a mystic warrior on a constant quest for revenge. Many of us started playing Mortal Kombat in our teenage years, and we all loved that rebellious storyline. We could relate to him almost as our friend.
Whether it was when you saw that skull head burn someone to death, or when you first heard that "GET OVER HERE!" Scorpion has found a way into the hearts of Mortal Kombat fans. The character of Scorpion has become very cliche and is recognized worldwide. Call him overrated if you will, but he will always be a major part of the Mortal Kombat franchise.

I agree completely. Scorpion has been around for so long that no matter what, he will remain a staple to the MK legacy. He may not be my favorite character, but he's definitely on my list.

He is only one of the most popular characters because he is the fire element in which seems to be everyone's favorite truth is he is the most popular for that reason and as a result he is used in advertising increasing his popularity further. Plus the Evil IS GOOD  meaning evil characters are the cooler ones in most eyes and games

Scorpion's not good nor evil. He's neutral. He'll ally himself with whichever side offers him the best deal which was most often the Evil side, but the evil side never had any intentions of fulfilling their deals.
