It sure seemed that way on the run-up to the release of Mk Vs DCU. All the advertising and posters had Sub-Zero staring down Batman, and the first clips we saw of the game featured these two characters battling, witch worked great for a variety of different reasons. But once the game was released, who was the ninja staring Bats in the face on the cover? Scorpion. Personally I was very disappointed with this, as I strongly believe the Subby deserved to be on that cover.
Scorpion is a legendary MK character, but he does get a bit too much exposure.

No I disagree Scorpion is MK's most recognised Kharacter and Batman is arguably DC's. So thats why it was done that way. Plus Subby's got the best of Scorpion in the last few games (which I admit annoys me) plus in the Shaolin Monks Intro Sub-Zero stole the show by breaking the skull over scorpion's face! That was Kool "as fuck" but not so cool with me personally. Always was a Scorpion fan and always will be.

i agree with razer 100% ... i hate how sub zero hit scorpion with a skull and i also hate how sub zero hit scorpion with the kori blade and launches scorpion away .. in the opening of armageddon ...

Yeah thanx man I didn't mention the Armageddon thing because I think the Shaolin Monks thing is a better example but that annoyed me too lmao

Don't get me wrong, boys, I'm a big fan of Scorpion too. I just think he seems to steal the limelight a little too often.

You know what?
If I could create the roster for MK9, I would exclude both Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The two characters are growing more stale over time, but due to their overrated fame, like you stated, no other characters really get a chance at popularity. The only MK character from the 21st century that's actually popular is Kenshi, though he isn't the only one that's good, imo.
I would love to see Nitara, Mavado, and Li Mei be fruther developed. They all have great potential.
Oh, and yeah, Scorpion pretty much sucks. I'm a Sub-Zero kind of guy.

Sub zero isnt a type of character i would compare to scorpion ... i would compare bo rai cho , kabal , kobra .. these kind of characters to sub zero
but i would compare Noob Saibot , shao kahn , smoke , kintaro , motaro and goro to scorpion
the one who i dont know why is so popular anyway is sub zero

If I had to choose, it would be Sub-Zero to be the better of the two.
I've never really liked Scorpion, and it wasn't until MKDeception that he got a costume I actually liked.
Sub-Zero would still be kick-ass if only he wasn't in my face every time I saw something that had to do with Mortal Kombat. With Scorpion, though, I see him with anything that has to do with fighting games, along with Ken, Ryu, and Jin. The MKTeam really needs to update the character tiers, and finally do away with these expired veterans (Scorpion, Sbu-Zero, Liu Kang, Sonya, Raiden).

Man the reason for Subby and Scorpion for being in basically in every game is because they are the most popular kharacters. If they weren't in MK8 it wouldn't sell as much! Fair enough you don't like Scorpion but man hating kharacters isn't kool unless its Kobra lmao
You should be happy enough with MK8 anyway as most kharacters are dying......but Subs and Scorpion are mainstays forever! Hell UMK3 had to be made after the negative feedback they received with Scorpion being absent and Subs being mask-less.
There never will be another game without Sub-Zero or Scorpion.

Yeah, Kenshi does seem to be the only one of the new generation that's really been well recieved. He is a great character, but personally I'm not a great fan of his. There havn't really been too many great characters in this generation though. Nitara was fantastic, Mavado was a good idea, and Kenshi was (as we've already mention) well recieved to say the least. Outside of this small crew there wasn't any true classics though.

Dunno man I liked Havik and Hotaru from the new games. I didn't like Bo Rai Cho or Darrius too much. Kenshi was kool but my forst impression of him was an Ermac rip-off. But thats over now lol

Yeah, Havik was a coll character. So different from the usual MK crew. Darrius, Dairo (Think I spelled that wrong), Dharmin, and a few others wern't really worth the time or effort if you ask me.

Hmmm dunno man I kinda liked Drahmin aswell he was wierd lol
I think I like him because of how he used to be like a King and shit and then became like he is now. I read it on some koncept art when the game was coming out. Kool shit!
