Because he's Boon's favorite character and Boon can't seem to realize that Scorpion is not the ONLY character.

Scorpion's popularity is sourced with three main points: his alignment, his ruthlessness, and his attitude towards others. As a neutral character, he uses both sides for his own self-gain, which gets him into a lot of trouble, but it shows he has spirit. He will fight anyone or anything, no matter the odds. Next, he shows no mercy towards his opponents. He did spare one opponent's life in the early stages of MK because the opponent he fought was not the one who murdered him so long ago; however, if you have taken a look at all whom he has fought and killed, it was a slaughter. Finally, he is very wary of others, but he also uses manipulation to his advantage to get exactly what he wants. He has manipulated Shao Kahn in order to get his vengeance, but he was also manipulated by the Elder Gods to rid them of a threat in the realms. He lets anger consume him, but he is a strong fighter, one of the strongest, and most dangerous, along with his clan of ninja, the Shyrai-Ryu.

A lot of what you said could also be applied to Kano. He is a munipulitive, relentless, savage son of a bitch who is more than happy to play both sides against each other for his own personal gain. Yet, Kano's fairly far from the top of most peoples "Fave MK Characters" lists (although he is a personal favorite of mine).

I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and say that Scorpion got popular for his catchphrase. Pretty cool for someone to yell, "Get over here!" during a fight to the death.

Good point, man. It was defo one of the most memorable things about MK in the earl;y days. And the fact that Scorpion was the only one to have a chatchphrase at the time (before Jax was introduced, and started using his "Gotcha" line") really helped distinguish him from the rest of the cast. Therefore, I guess that kinda gave him a head start towards the spotlight.

Although hearing the "Get the Fuck Over Here" line in a game would be Epic.
If I catch a player with a spear when they are jumping back or something I always quickly shout "Where do you think your going? Get the fuck back over here!" lmao Great stuff.

Dude, that already happened. If you pay attention closely in the game Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, Scorpion does briefly say, "Get the fuck over here!" If you do not believe me, look it up on youtube, and if you want to check even further, he did say, "Get over here, bitch!"

Are you sure he "actually" says it in the game? I know that the sound file is in the game but I havn't heard it from him. Maybe I didn't notice it lol
But yeah hearing it in a proper "1 on 1" MK game: That would be awesome.

I'm absolutely sure man. If you don't believe me, buy MKSM itself, unlock Scorpion and play with him. Pay close attention when you use the spear. If you'd rather not do that, then you can ask Total himself, as he and his team of mods are the ones who have extracted these sounds for your listening convenience.

Well I have Shaolin Monks.
Havn't played through as Scorp or Subby though because of them doing Liu Kang/Kung Lao moves in cut-scenes. It put me off.
Thanx for letting me know it is actually in the game though.
I might play through as Scorpion to hear it ^-^
