I personally think violence is okay in games. It's not the developers fault. If they think all that blood should be in the game, then so be it. It's the fucking parent's (and or kid's) fault for buying the game knowing that it has violence. Unfortunately, if the kid is retarded and the game makes him want to kill everyone in his school, then...well...that's his problem. I just think that violent games should not be banned because a small group does not like them.

I don't normally like violent games because it influences violence in every day life, but i make an exception for MK because i am so familiar with it. Plus, I am not a fan just because of the blood.
This is an interesting topic too. This is what I think:
1) Violent games should be played by people in their right minds.
2) People should be aware of the content of the game before buying it. That way, over-protective parents don't b*tch about it and try to make actions to ban them.
3) Little kids shouldn't play violent games period. Let me expand on this. First off, everyone knows this already, but this generation is more accustommed to violence and adult themes than previous generations. However, some kids might act upon what they see and might hurt themselves and/or other people, so the risk shouldn't be taken. This will also run the risk of parents or other adults to try to ban violent games altogether.
It all depends on the person's state of mind. If the kid is mature and is smart enough to know what he or she is seeing belongs only in the game - not in real life, then he or she can play.

That's what I like to hear.

I'm just tired of parents that think violent games are the Anti-Christ and think they should be banned for all eternity just because their retarded son thought the game was real and shot his best friend and tried to use a soda to bring him back or something stupid. They should be aware of the content beforehand. If they don't think it's safe, the DON'T FUCKING BUY IT. Jesus...some people out there.

(please use me in your essay/bibliography)

if the parents dont like it, dont buy it.

simple as that. you dont need to ban it, thats stupid. there are some that live to see violence in games and others that dont, so it should be allowed.

some parents are stupid: "dear, stop playing that game and watch something or read something" (gives me box set of sopranos and a copy of the book: the shining)

peolple that wish to ban it or dislike it do it because they just dont understand

I am sick of this issue...when it comes to violence, where do you draw the line? How come THE NEWS that shows death and war doesn't have a rating on it? But in Videos and Games everything has to be rated when it isn't even reality?

Violence is everyware, not just games. If you wanted to take it out you would have to go back to the stone age...oh wait....they even had violence back then, I guess you can't win!

omg who voted "no" in this poll...

Regards,

i think that there should be violence in video games i mean for what reason what you buy a game that has no violence its no fun to play and it gets boring right away.
If it will make people violent then why do they buy the game in the first place.
What Total-MK said was right the news doesnt have a rating and sometimes it has more violence then video games.

It should be allowed, crime happened centuries before games were invented. this doesnmt seem to be the type of place to post a thread like this, I thaught mk was the first game to have an age limit because of violence. Most people who join here are mk fans, so most of us will suport violence in games. one thing, most games apart from the crap ones like the sims, have some violence in them, even RPGs, have violence, you see you character attacking the enemy.
conclusion
What in hell would be the point in playing a video game that had no violence at all?

I personally think that age limits on games are a load of bull shit. I mean, if kids cant buy them they will give thier parents the money to buy them. Or try another shop. Its always the popular ones like mk, the getaway, the gta. that have certificates. When I was younger, if I wanted a game that the shops refused, I gave my parents the money to get it. Games have always had violence, it is what make a game good. They never used to have age limits, then they were introduced and shops started being strict with who they sold them to. the thing is, it is just because of the graphics that they have limits, golden axe for the megadrive had no age limit. It was almost the same idea as Baldurs gate Dark Alliance for the PS2 which had a 15 cert. just as violent, but because of the graphics, people think it is more likely to cause kids to be violent, that is crap. GA includes going about killing enemies, just like BGDA, I was once talking to a teacher about games, the thing about violence was brought up, he agreed, if you think about it, millions of copies of games are sold. only a few people go violent after playing them. Some of these people could be violent as a result of the game but some would be violent if they had not played it. considering the ammount of violent games sold every day, and the ammount of people who copy them. there are only like a fraction a percent that actually copy them.

I dont really like the GTA games a lot, I dont have a problem ewith the violence but I just get bored with them, a game needs a story, if nothing is going on, I would not play it. I was using the GTA series as an example of games that are quite popular. It is always that games that are marked 18. anybody who believes that vioplence should not be in game os films, I have a peice of advice. find the off button on your computer or video/DVD player and use it. dont kick up a fuss and ruin it for people weho do like the films.

I don't think that this is a fair question to ask in the TMK forums. The people here are fans of MK. MK is a violent game, so everyone here is going to vote "yes" on violent games.

By the way, I was the one who voted "no". I meant to vote yes, but I accidently put no, and before I realized what I really put, it was too late because I had already submitted it.
