Ok now I read it and It think it well thought out. However, I never saw Quan Chi run into Raiden before the explosion. In fact, I am sure I saw him run the other direction. I'll have to watch the intro again.

I'm like, 99% sure that Quan Chi dove at Raiden at the very last second, maybe trying to stop him from sacrificing everyone.
watch the intro when you get the chance. I may go do that right now, since I can't go back to sleep. =(

I think Raiden is just plain a bad guy. Originaly he was disigned to be evil. Again, info from that site i love show off!
In MK1, Raiden's depiction was completely different from being the leader
of the good guys. The original story was that he entered the tournament
to prove that he was more powerful than any and all humans. The ending
even had him destroying the planet. Once MK2 came around, Midway
retconned him into being the mentor archetype we all know and love.

needless to say, I think Raiden is becoming the bad guy Midway had always dreamed of!

Hey guys....whatever....anyway, I haven't noticed that. Your theory is pretty interesting. And I completely doubt the Merge Theory.

Raiden is just pissed off at Shujinko. Thats why I like raiden's ending cause Shujinko gets what he deserves  and they should have made Raiden with darker clothes, red-ish/black-ish lightning and more aggresive Fatalities.

i think alot of your are overthinking this, cmon if you were in charge of the earth and some old guy collected the kamidogu for the worlds strongest villain(at the time) and threatens to destroy the earth which your protecting by the way. And in exchange you perform a kamikaze attack which doesnt even come close to working, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance wouldnt you be alittle pissed of? Cmon a thunder God can only take soo many invisions and stuff like that. Of course hes gonna be mad, and want to kill any mortal which threatens to destroy the world your so dedicated to protecting.

Your right, Raiden has every right to be pissed and I even think he is willing to kill all mortals that endanger Earthrealm even Liu Kang.

I know, I thought Liu was the champion but when he died, I guess that the Gods had to choose a replacement champion. Also, why isn't Raiden an Elder God yet, he saved Earthrealm more times than I can count and he also saves them as well!! In the next MK game, the Elder Gods should fight cause they haven't done a damn thing!!!!
