Anyone reading this please reply! since Shaolin Monks is based on the end of MK1 to the end of MK3, that means we get to see all the fighters from between those games! Might not be to exctiting for you but that means we get to see
Human Smoke (from MK2. I know for a fact i've seen a pic of Kung Lao fighting him in the Living Forest)
Cyber Smoke (from MK3. Imagine how cool it will be to see both versions of smoke!)
Ermac (From UMK3. He's a boss and you unlock Sub-Zero by beating him)
Sektor (First return in 3D in how long?)
Rain (We get to see Rain in 3D Woo-hoo!)
Khameleon (hopefully! Please god please bring her back!)
Shujinko (In konquest, he was around when Kenshi wanted to fight in the first tournament so he might be here)
Bo Rai Cho (I dont like him but there are good chances he's there)
Sheeva (Again, not too big on her but she has a good shot at appearing)

Okay. First of all it doesn't end at MK3. It's all about MK2. That means Cyber Smoke and Sheeva won't be in there. Shujinko won't be either because he never competed in the tournaments. Bo'Rai Cho could be in there since he trained Liu Kang and Kung Lao.They might show him at the beginning, but maybe only a glimpse and he probably won't be playable.
These people however will be in it
Liu Kang Kung Lao Sonya Kano Johnny Cage Raiden Mileena Kitana Goro Shang Tsung Jade Smoke Sub-Zero Scorpion Reptile Baraka Noob Saibot(or a person who looks like him, saw a pic but cant tell if it's him or not) Kabal(saw a drawing of him in the mag w/out his mask, so him w/out the ask proves that it doesnt happen in MK3) and people are hoping of Shao Kahn. Ya Never know

They could throw Bp'Rai Cho in as sort of a guide in a tutorial mode to teach the Controls of the game, then again Raiden could play that role just as well.
I haven't seen any other media of Kabal other then that original sketch, so perhaps they decided to leave him out, or he could possibily sneek into Outworld to try and rescue Kano (Kabal is a Black Dragon during this time) and could possibly cross the Monks path when they go to rescue Sonya.
Although I really want to see many character outside of MK 1&2 appear because like the MK2 movie, too many extra character would lessen the storyline in favour of having cameoes by every character. So they shouldn't include anymore MK3 characters other then the two they got now (Kabal & Ermac)

Are you sure it ends at the end of 3 because I heard in an interview with Ed Boon that it ends at the end of the events of MK3 and I read it in a magazine. Maybe that storyline was in beta you never know. Guess we'll just have to play the game and see

I don't get why Ermac is in the game in the first place. Maybe an explanation for "Error Macro" can be explained in the game.

Thats why im convinced that its based around the third game too. Well i read in GI magazine that MK:SM will start at the ending of MK1 and end at the beginning of MK3.

Ermac is there because they want to exploit as many of the old rumours as they could, one of which is that you could fight Ermac in the Warrior Shrine in the original Mortal Kombat. Of course that in itself confuses because that an MK1 rumour and said they were gonn focus on MK2 rumours... they must've ran out of MK2 rumours.
Like I stated earlier I haven't seen any work on Kabal since the original sketch so I'm think that he's been axed from the game until I see prove to the contrary.
As for Kenshi... since when is Kenshi in the game, I know I said it would be POSSIBLE to include him but I don't think he's been remotely confirmed for Monks.

Santa was one of the flying things in the Pit arena (MK1). It was part of the ´Reptile code´. Have you ever played MK1?
