i got this from a guy at another website who has the game and has now completed it. if you dont want me to ruin the fun of completing the game and findong out yourself then go back.
the final battle are about to take place. liu kang is ready to take on shang tsung, then kintaro, then finally kahn himself. not only does he down all of them but he manages to kill them all. this is no exaggeration, he kills them and leaves their dead bodies lying there. kahn even freezes into a statue and explodes leaving his soul to float away. this better not be a retcon, or the mk3-present storyline of mk just wont work. (unless kahn used that stupid cloning devise like in mkd, worst idea ever!)
also, quan chi comes along to grab shinnoks amulet from kahns body and chuckles until we see the credits. how ridiculous is that! he already has it! everything that has actually happened has just been rewritten and now everyone who should be alive is dead! this is terrible! your thoughts?

as a matter of fact. mk:annhialation had a better storyline and you all know that that used to be the biggest mk mistake ever.
looks like mksm has turned into a piece of bovine egestion (bullsh*t)

Cant we go a single fucking game without that pale gobshite and his dumb amulet? Seriously, its been mentioned in every game since MK4!! Im getting tired of Quan Chi, good ridance the Dragon King killed him!!

I think that MKSM's ending makes perfect sense if we take that ending as a "what If". Let me tell you why:
- Every game since MK1 to MKD (except MKM:SZ) has "what if" endings.
- If it's a "what if ending" we don't know exactly if they really killed Kahn (most likely not). Let's say they fight him, they lose against him, and come back to earthrealm.
- Remember MK3... Kahn opened portals and entered Earthrealm to konquer it, didn't he? Yes, he did! You know now that he was using Quan Chi's amulet to do it.
- We can assume that he made a deal with Quan Chi to use his amulet, and once Kahn lost MK3, Quan Chi had it back to him.
I firmly believe that this "what if" ending wants to show what would have happened if the Shaolin Monks would have ended Kahn in MK2.
And that Quan Chi's cameo is just to show us he helped Kahn to enter Earthrealm after MK2 (which he ultimately did).

Good analysis. Plus I think that we shouldn't take every death in the game as face value.

I hope my explanation is close to the real one, because if not, the MK Team has just f****d up all continuity in the MK saga.
And I agree with you, shotokanpuma#1. Even if my analysis is accurate is a lame ending for MKSM.
