Well my brother and I made it to the final, 3 man gauntlet. Shang Tsung, Kintaro and that A-Hole Shao Khan!!!

So far we got a strategy for both Tsung and Kintaro but Khan always seems to get the better of us. Especially in the second half of the fight where he just shoulder rushes and swings around his hammer like a top! What sucks is that the swinging hammer does continuous damage XP

Is there any good advice for surviving this gauntlet with most health or defeating Shao Khan effectively and safely?

Any help would be much appreciated Razz

I too was stuck for ages on Kahn, I asked ]{0mbat from MK Online, and he gave me the tip that wins the game for you. Soon as you get to Kahn and his cheap ass hammer attacks, to avoid it use the LONG JUMP...this will keep you away from kahn, with Kung Lao, I kept using my hat and keeping my distance from Kahn. So there you have it!

That only works with Kung Lao because I used the same strategy that you did. However, with Scorpion, it is all about timing. You have to time the teleport attack, then, while Tsung is stunned, hit him with the combo square, square, circle. It does the most damage. For Kintaro, wait for him to use his main projectile and use your teleport attack again. When he taunts, use that same combo attack, but back away afterwards and repeat the process unless he does his teleport stomps. Double jump and use your teleport attack. You will get lucky and hit him a few times. For Kahn, wait for his taunt and do the same combo, but retreat back. Avoid his charge attacks and use the teleport attack when he shoots projectiles.

No shit! His spear is the slowest as far as projectiles are concerned, but he is the easiest character to defeat Shao Kahn with.

They should have given him a better projectile. Ermac kicked my ass as Scorpion because I couldnt hit him from a distance *damn Ermac with his damn telekinetic slam!*

I just beat Shao Kahn for the first time a little while ago.

As these guys are saying, the long jump is the name of the game. Forget about your fireballs.......save the energy for the long jump, and use Kintaro's head.

I had the most success by having my first long jump be away from SK, along the perimeter of the circle. Then I'd RUN for a few steps, then use my second long jump to go kind of diagonally ACROSS the ring. He has a hard time following you when you do this. Sometimes if he's still a bit too close after the second jump, just do a regular double jump and you'll escape his swing.

It took me 4 or 5 tries to beat him, but after I got this strategy down, I could probably do it with my eyes closed Laughing
