i think i read it also on this forum too, but for sure on other websites, that people are taking MKSM as non-cannon which means not along the storyline and just for fun. one thing that i wanna clear up is that at the end, some people hate the fact that quan chi grabs the amulet when he supposedly already has it. here is my take on this. okay in MKM:SZ, sub zero (noob) takes it from him. raiden and the good side have throughout MK1 but somehow kahn gets ahold of it. (quan chi cant already have it if it was stolen from shinnok in MKM:SZ) and when kahn is defeated at the end of MK2, he steals it for himself, and finds the courage to finally enter MK4 to challenge shinnok knowing he has a fake amulet. NOW...if you dont liek that scenario, here is another related one. KAHN had the real amulet the whole time (possibly why he can capture souls like shang even though he is not a scorcerer) and the one taken from shinnok early on is really the fake one (possibly a plan devised by quan chi?) and shinnok finally realizes he has the fake one when he cant kill quan chi in MK4 because quan chi hs the real one he took from kahn. (shinnok can do most of his powers without the real one anyway being an ex-elder god and all, thus maybe not realizing he has the fake one) sound good? whats your opinions on either of those? _________________ the essense of mortal kombat...is not about death...but........fatalities.

It's hard to say.
I'm still not 100% certain of the whole story behind the amulet. I just know that in MK Mythologies Sub-Zero 5th (aka Noob Saibot now, also MK1 Sub-Zero) gets it and ends up hiding it from Shinnok or something like that once Raiden tells him to. Also that in MK4 Quan Chi has the real amulet and thus Shinnok cannot do anything to him. I'm not sure if Liu Kang actually kills Shinnok then and Scorpion's MK4 ending is what happened to Quan Chi.
I have no idea how the real amulet would have gotten in the hands of Shao Kahn. When I saw that part of the ending in Shaolin Monks I was just like "o...k..." but I'm not really sure if you can consider it canon or not. I'd also like to know what others think on this. _________________
