I am pretty sure some game company did look at this game, when it came out and suggested ideas for their game. It's called brainstorming, it's common knowledge that ppl think of other games when making them. Example: such as Far Cry Instincts, who thought of halo's multiplayer online play.
Mortal Kombat 1 isn't its own game, hence primal rage and killer instinct have too much similarity. Example: Domination moves like gruesome finishers. "Gameplay".The characters are the only thing that could make it, it's own. In people's minds it's it own game, but from actual creation it's not.

Something is wrong here.
I guess your definition of "its own game" is different from mine. Since Mortal Kombat came out first, and Killer Instinct and Primal Rage were not that good, I don't see how that could interfere with MK's originality.
