At the start of Deception when Raiden does his Big Blast do some of earthrelm people like Sonya Jax Johnny die. Because they weren't in
Deception. So basically what happened to them?

The deadly lleince killed them, then Onaga brought them back to life and used them as mind slaves

I don't think anyone was nearby. We see some Tarkata outside the temple, but I'm not sure if Baraka himself was there.

They were killed by the DA before the Intro battle took place. You wouldn't see them by the palace.
