i get different messages depending on where you die, i also get a message that says free princess milseair or sumpting strange like that, another strange one i got was why is liu hungry, and one about an invisible pinguin

Since this game takes place during MK2, I imagine Sonya is not unlockable. But I'd hope (although this is very unlikely) that Midway would have allowed all the characters playable from MK2 playable in Vs. mode from MK-SM, including Mileena.

I would agree she's not in this game. Not only was she not in the original MK2 game (playable wise. She was only a background model in 1 level) but you never fight with her in game. All you ever see of her fighting is a brief battle between her and Baraka in the Wu Shi Academy and it doesn't show you much since the camera angle is in a position where you can't see what she does to Baraka.
I'd imagine there are ways to play as every character that you fight who has a fatality. Those codes seem to confirm this theory.

I'd also like to know this. Though I'd imagine PS2 since they seem like GameShark codes and X-Box has no gameshark.  It's not fair.

These are for the codebreaker on the PS2. There is a working beta version of Action Replay for the Xbox, but sadly that is only beta testing in GB. If there is a friendly Brit accross the lake who would be willing to supply us with codes to compare for the XBox version, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, to wit, I will look for codes on the Xbox myself.

I have heard that all characters from MK2 are playable in MKSM. That means:
Young Shang Tsung
Mileena
Jax
Noob
Smoke
Jade
Raiden
Kintaro?
Shao Kahn?
I doubt Kahn and Kintaro though.

So wait, with XBox Action Reply you can play as all the MKII characters? And where can I pick up one of these Action Reply's? eBay or can I find one in an EB games store?
