Hi, I'm just wondering about something you know how all the male ninjas have names that deal with their elements, special abilities, or their own history? (save Noob-Saibot (Tobias-Boon))
Well, how on earth did Cyrax get his name! I mean, everyone understands Sektor is a misspelling of Sector, but what about LK-4D4?

Cyrax probibly is liek Anthrax(the poisen, not the band). Cuz of his net, his deadly combos, and in the movie, he could luanch little parasites to eat away at a target. So that what I think. ANd yes, for those who dont know, Cyrax was codename: Mustard, and Sektor was codename: Ketchup.

It Just occured to me last night, you guys know how Cyrax is African? (His alternate costume shows what little flesh that remains.) What if his name is supposed to be something like CYbeR jAX.

I think the Cryax-Anthrax thing is a good explanation, just like a computer (which he is kinda) he can spread virus's. But what was his name before? and the same questions for Sektor. Maybe TMK can ask someone from the staff of midway and find out?

I think Cyrax just sounded cool to them. Sektor and Cyrax. The names go together well. There probably isn't anything more than that to it.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who pondered these questions. I have always wondered where certain characters got thier names. Like I know that Sonya and Tanya are named after ed boon's sisters. Some of the ninjas are just common sense. I always thought about Cyrax, too by I just figured that It had something to with Cyborg.

Well, Sektor, is a form of Sector, which is the point that verticies meet in programming.
And Cyrax is a type of laser scanner that scans in 3D.

it still does not solve why they are called that if they where human beforre, i mean if they where ninjas and all they would have another name before the transformation, on a side note, jax was suposto be in mk1 and he was originally going to be stryker

The Stryker thing is quite correct. But after viewing Sonay's ending, they decided to change the Name of Stryker to Jax in MKII.
As for the ninjas. It was the mid 90s. They're robots. It was when we were all waiting for a future immersed in Virtual Reality.
So the name were picked cause they sounded trendy/computer-ish.

Sonya was orignally gonna be Stryker in Mk1, but they HAD to include a female so Sonya was created.
Stryker was gonna be in MK2, but Jax was put instead because he's black, and the MK team wanted to make a diverse cast.
I think by MK3, a cop/agent was overused so maybe that's why Stryker got low ratings.
The three MK3 cyborgs were inspired by Predator, and computer terms were most likely used for the names. They probably chose what sounded the coolest.

Predator huh? that would explain the 'dreads' on Sektor, Smoke, and Cyrax' cybermasks. Which looked awesome, but unfortunately for Smoke it was removed in MKD

They replaced the dreads on Smoke with ventilation tubes. It's supposed to give him a "gas mask" look. And since smoke is a form of gas, that makes perfect sense.
