Also, on the topic of Raiden. Most of you probably know this, but the Japanese thunder god is Rai (rye) den (dan) (it's amazing how much you can learn from Romaji  ). They initially changed the spelling and pronounciation and due to that lawsuit dealing with the changed spelling they had to revert the spelling.

What about other names that have have parts that sound Asian?
For example, Shang Tsung, Li Mei, Shao Kahn, Reiko, and so on?

I just found out these working names and more origins for some characters
Kobra - Ken-Masters
Kira - She-Kano
Havik - Skab/(orignally Noob Saibot)/ayllable for "chaos"
Blaze - Torch (not used since X-men uses this name)
Moloch - named after a cultural demon
Ashrah - Ashra/female Raiden
Dairou - originally going to be in MKDA, but cut out
Cyrax - cyborg Scorpion/mustard/unit LK 4D4
Jax - originally going to be called "Kurtis Stryker"
Cage - John Carlton/modeled in MK1 after Belgian actor Jean-Claude Van
Mavado - Malvado/replaced by Kabal in MKD
Kenshi - Blind Kenshi/Blind GI
Hsu Hao - Kublai Khan
Mokap - MOtion KAPture
Shujinko - Next-gen Liu Kang/names translates too "hero"
Hotaru - translates into "firefly"
Kabal - "Sandman" (reference to Star Wars)

back on topic, more than likely though he would be of significance, most generals or leaders in the Edenian army are renowed for their abilities or are actually of royal descent. (Bo Rai Cho/ Kitana)

I dont know why.....but I have this feeling that Kitana and Rain are siblings. Why? Shao Khan seized Edenia and killed King Jerrod (who was Kitana's father), but we also learn that he killed Rain's father. Perhaps they are both the same? Some kings have direct say when it comes to battle, so Jerrod could have been General of his own armies.
