THere was only one rain. Mortal Kombat Annihalation killed him off. Unless that was his father. Then that would fit into the story line.

Yeah, they killed him off too fast too. Rain was a cool character with original moves, but no original costumes.

You know, it really sucks that Rain was a ninja. He had a good storyline, and his moves were, though not the most original, fun in their own right. If they would've taken thier time and filmed a new character (the only character filmed for the game was Johnny Cage--why not film one more?) then he might've been more popular.

I couldn't agree more. I mean, there should only be 2, 3 at the most, ninjas.
- Sub-Zero and Scorpion are definitely, their storylines support each other. And, stated in the Mortal Kombat handbook for the SNES, Scorpion wore the same outfit, but yellow, to MOCK the Lin Kuei. But, I think later they changed his reason of wearing yellow to be because he was from the Shirai Ryu. Well, I'm rambling, but we can't give up these two.
- Reptile was the first of the clones, but very cool in his own way. He was Tsung's guardian/spy, and he was the last of his race (well, almost), I like his story. But, if you think about it, he doesn't really have a reason to wear ninja attire. Sub-Zero, though not a ninja, wore it because of the Lin Kuei uniforms. Scorpion wore it to mock the Lin Kuei/ to wear the colors of the Shirai Ryu. Reptile didn't have a reason, really. So, that was okay, for a first time, so his design didn't have to be changed.
- Smoke was completely unoriginal. He seems pretty cool, but his moves are a rip off of Scorpion and he was the next ninja clone. I guess he has a reason to where the ninja attire, but I think it'd be weird to have a horde of Lin Kuei "warriors" attacking me, each dressed in a different color. It'd look more like a parade than an attack. But, I didn't care. You know originally, all the Lin Kuei wore blue, but we can't always trust the original storyline. Anyway, I only really liked the robot version. I liked both of their stories, of course. Maybe, since they are in the same organization, Smoke and Sub-Zero's costumes could look similar but different color? Nahh...
-Noob Saibot was just put in as a joke, but I still thought he was cool. But again, what are the chances that an evil warrior from the Netherealm would wear the exact same outfit as some people from the Lin Kuei (Smoke, Sub-Zero), an evil hell spectre(Scorpion), a former assasin for Khan(Rain), and some messed up soul person (Ermac)? I'd say the chances are very slim. There isn't much of a reason to have him wear that.
-Ermac is just retarded. His story is slightly interesting, but he's retarded. I mean, it's weird, do the ninjas notice they wear the same thing and they never have the same color as any of their pals?
Scorpion: MY COSTUME KICKS ASS!
Sub-Zero: Yeah, whatever.
Rain: Hey, has anyone noticed we all look the same, except each of us has a different color?
Ermac: Yeah, pretty cool, huh?
Scorpion: I guess it's all just some HUUUUGE coincedence, somehow...
I think the creators should think of stories for their characters before making them up. I mean, they didn't sit down and say:
Boon: Ya know what?
Tobias: What?
Boon: Let's make a spy for Shinnok, who goes into the Earth realm to join Kahn. But secretly, he wants to kill him.
Tobias: Yeah, that sounds pretty cool.
Boon: What should he look like?
Tobias: Hmm... Why don't we make him like this?
Tobias gives Boon a drawing of a ninja.
Boon: Ohh, Scorpion.
Tobias: Uhh, that's not Scorpion.
Boon: Of course. It's Rain.
tobias:.....Uh, no.
Boon: It's got to be Smoke, then.
Tobias: ..............
Boon: Okay, then what the hell is it?
Tobias: It's a character design. I designed it from scratch, completely original.
Boon: Ah, yes. It sure is.
Tobias: I think you could use him for your character.
Boon: Thanks, John. Great design.
........NOoo.
It went more like this:
Boon: Dude!! I have an awesome idea!!!
Tobias: What is it dude?!!
Boon: Okay, so, like, the people llove our Sub-Zero and Scorpion characters, right?
Tobias: Uh, yeh, so?
Boon: Dude! We have a blue one and a yellow one, and a green one! Let's keep making more!!
Tobias: Yeah!! What's next!?
Boon: Uh, I don't know, let's make a black one!!
Tobias: Yeah dude!!
That's basically how every ninja was created, along with character like Khameleon. They talked about the idea of someone who could turn into all the female characters (who happen to look exactly the same except for their color) and put her in the game. Then they made the story, and from what I've heard, she's a Zaterrian... Who has the incredible power to turn into ANYONE! .............as long as they all look the same, but that's besides the point! [sarcasm intended]
Anyway, the next on the list
-Rain had a cool storyline and stuff, but they just continued their little game of making every color ninja, so they made him purple. They also continued their game of giving elemental powers, so they decided they'd make him like, watery or somethine (what about Hydro?). But, if it weren't for them making ninjas that look exactly the same then we would never see Rain, who isn't that bad, or Noob Saibot, who is awesome, or Ermac, who is kind of fun for the first ten minutes until you realize how stupid he is, or Smoke.
What do you guys think about what I'm saying?

Well, I suppose it kind of makes sense for Reptile to wear a ninja outfit because he wanted to hide his true form, right? Although, he could have worn anything to disguise himself.

actuly Rain isnt a Ninja at all. Scorpion is, so that makes Scorpion the king of all "Ninja's"

That's true that Scorpion is the only ninja, but I think when people say "ninja" they just mean any of those people who wear those clothes like Scorpoin and Sub, and Reptile, ect.
