The version of MK1 that comes with Mortal Kombat: Deception is the arcade game. Its the arcade rom running in an emulator which means its pretty much the best home version.

MK2 and MK3 arcade roms are on Midway Arcade Treasures 2, so they would be the best versions of those games as well.

Not counting those, I'd say MK3 for the PC was the best version of MK3.

UMK3 is hard to pick because I never played the Saturn version. I would imagine it had the best graphics for Saturn, at least it should. I know MK2 for saturn had horrible problems that made it almost unplayable (like random loading midround) but I'm not sure if they fixed that for UMK3. SNES had ok graphics considering what it did but the gameplay for SNES was horribly off. Genesis had those grotesque graphics but at least for UMK3, it had the better gameplay.

Please, even though the sega saturn is the closest to arcade style graphics and sound it is far from Arcade perfect.

Load times. Freaking load times.

I saw the PS2 come out before they finished loading the Shang Tsung morph. LOL

Its a lot better then Genesis. Its graphics aren't as good as Saturn or PSX but I dont think either of those were particularly fun to play because of other technical problems. Overall the SNES port would be my favorite port of the game.

But, MAT2 is not a port, it is the actual arcade game so it really is the best home version you can get.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I've acquired Midway Arcade Treasures 2 for the Nintendo GameCube and the PS2.

So now I have the arcade perfect versions of MKII and MK3.

As for the first MK, which version should I get? The one that comes with the XBox Mortal Kombat Deception Kollector's Edition, or the one the comes with the PS2 Mortal Kombat Deception Premium Pack?

I've heard that the the first Mortal Kombat on XBox is buggy. But given the graphical shortcomings of the PS2, how is its MKI?

What are the pros and cons of MKI on each system?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Now, if only Midway would put UMK3 on Midway Arcade Treasures 4!

Do you mean MKT? Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was never made for N64.
