Information On The 3rd MK Movie:
Director Paul Anderson, Threshold Entertainment, producer Lawrence Kasanoff, and executive producer Alison Savitch, previous producers of the box office hit Mortal Kombat and the not-so-hot MK Annihilation, have begun the initial production of this highly secret sequel, which will probably be the last of the three. Previous actors/actressses in the past two movies have been seen meeting up at the Threshold headquarters, and chances are this film will be more like the first. The storyline, though not fully developed at this time, is rumored to continue from where MKA left off: Quan Chi has tricked Shinnok with a fake copy of the real amulet, and now has the power to rule over everything, and the only ones who can defeat him are the mortals of Earth. It may also tie into MK5, since both release dates are very close together.
Some of the cast members that were in MK Annihilation signed a 3-movie contract, allowing them to be in the 3 films. One of the cast members who signed the contract is Robin Shou (played Liu Kang in MK and MKA). It is rumored that somehow Johnny Cage may be returning from the dead as well thanks to Quan Chi's abuse of his powers. Now, none of this may be true, and the film is still very early in production. But hell...let the Kombat Begin...again!
i found this and im dissapointed its going to be a sequel to MK:A and not for MK the movie 
what do you guys think about this now?

Heck if they are gonna make a new MK movie I hope the storyline is good and also they need to make the fightscenes more aggressive like in the previous MK movie, the Cage vs Scorpion scene. And also I want Chris Casamassa to play as Scorpion again.And as for the characters will Talisa Soto be playing Kitana once again? That's all for now.

tdub154420 of the IMDB boards received an Email from none only but Chris Casamassa, Scorpion of the first MK Movie. We all know Chris loves to write back his fans and have known that he hasn't revealed anthing 'new' for a while now- but that has changed. In the Email, dated 10/9/2005 7:43:50 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, Chris had this to say:
You are correct -Katrina stopped production!
Plan B is New Mexico / Thailand
Probably begin Shooting Jan 2006

Q: How is Johnny Cage coming back if he died in MK: Annihilation?
A: Since we know Linden Ashby is returning, we do not know how or in what form since Johnny Cage was killed off in the second movie. We do not know the plot or outline of the movie, so we can only guess. My guess would be that they end up ignoring the events of MK: Annihilation (as per what has been rumored).
Q: Is Robin Shou going to be back???
A: The possibility of Robin's return was quite a mystery to all for a very long time. But now, just recently, at Comic Con 2004, he said that he is going to be in MK3. No other information was given, however.
Q: Will Mortal Kombat 3 be made?
A: Mortal Kombat 3 has been in the rumor mill ever since 1998, shortly after Mortal Kombat Annihilation was released. Back then there were small pulses here and there and 'rumors' of possible plots or returning characters, but everything was just speculation all up until about 2002, when the success for Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance surfaced. The Mortal Kombat name still sells, apparently, and Threshold, and I, believes this. Yes. I believe MK3 was be made.
Q: IMDB (International Movie Database) has a full cast list, name, AND release date on their site for MK3. Are they right?
A: While I am not as strong willed as some others *cough* that HATE IMDB, I can safely say that about 99.9% of the information on cast, release dates, etc. are simply bits of stuff that desperate fans send in, and is not true.
Q: Is the movie called DOMINATION?
A: NO! Domination is the name of a fanfic movie from the late 90s that never left the ground. This title got mixed up with sporadic rumors of MK3 movie and the wildfire grew from there.
Q: So what WILL the name be?
A: An ex-Threshold worker mentioned the name being Devastation, however, Drew McWeeny, a co-writer of the script, said that they wrote a lot of scripts and there had been different names thrown around in each one. So until the plot or story is released, the subtitle is still a mystery.
UPDATE(2/03/2005): The name is Devastation.

A: Very good question. On one hand, I have to say YES, because there is too much information that has been leaked about this movie... if it's just been a myth and figment, then Threshold did a damn good job tricking everybody. On the other side, it's always disheartening when you everything about this movie... you could be let down when supposed returning actors go and film other movies or something to that extent.
Q: MovieTome.com has a lot of information about MK: Domination. Is it true?
A: The MK:3 (As they call it, MK: Domination) MovieTome, which can be found here, DOES have lot's of information on MK:D. The fact is that about ALL of it has been ripped straight from IMDB. Look at the question on whether IMDB can be trusted. (It was probably submitted all by a dumb fan)
Q: Will (insert actor's name) come back?
A: Only actors that are for sure returning are Christopher Lambert (Rayden in MK1), and Linden Ashby (Johnny Cage from MK1)
Q: Will (insert Mortal Kombat character's name here) return in the new movie?
A: A plot nor story has not been released, so no one know of any certain returning characters except for Rayden and Johnny Cage.
Q: I heard on IMDB and a wrestling site that Trish Stratus will play Sonya for MK3. Is this correct?
A: This rumor was first on IMDB, and I bet that the wrestling site just got its info off of IMDB. She most likely won't, but anything goes this early into the game.
Q: Isn't Liu Kang supposed to die or something in the next one?
A: This is a good question. On the mortalkombat.com official site, they did a poll (that's still going, in fact) on who would die in the third movie. Because of the plot of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (Where Liu Kang DID die in the main story), Liu Kang got and has the most votes. However, a thread started by KungLao on their now-defunct boards, when asked about it, said that Liu Kang would not die. That was of course two years ago.

Other Interesting Information
*Robin Shou, Liu Kang of both MK films, has been busy promoting his independent film, Red Trousers, in North America, Honk Kong, and Hawaii. So if they have been filming the past few months, he wasn't with them.
*Linden Ashby was recently casted as a short-term character for the Soap Opera The Young and the Restless.
*Threshold is also working on a Duke Nukem movie which, coincidentally, has also been at an apparent stand-still for two years.
*New Line and Threshold have supposedly been in a fight over the Mortal Kombat license for the past few years. The cheese known as Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was blamed on New Line. So what Threshold basically did was wait until their (New Line) rights to the license expired. So now Threshold has full rights to the MK license (this must be why various rumored cast members were asked about the progress of MK3, most said "We're just waiting now." So in other words: Threshold has complete control now.
*(1-25-2004) Drew McWeeny commented that MK3 has been through tons of name changes, and that simply MK3 was always the working title. He said that he doesn't think they still have an official name for it. Another thing that was brought up was that MK3 was a Threshold priority BEFORE MK:DA was released, so I'd imagine with its popularity they will release the movie.
*(2-2-2004) In an interview, Paul W.S. Anderson (director of the first MK movie) was asked if he was interested in directing the third film. He said that while he enjoyed doing the first film, he would rather do other projects. Thanks to Jason Rainwater for the heads up.

Yeah I searched IMDB.com for the cast and it is *said* as follows:
Robin Shou: Liu Kang
Adoni Maropis: Quan Chi
Linden Ashby: Johnny Cage
Chris Cassamassa: Scorpion
Keith Cooke: Sub-Zero
Matthias Hues: Fujin
Christopher Lambert: Raiden
The guy who is rumored to play Quan Chi has already played Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat Conquest, so I think he'll be fine for the job. But what about Sonya and Kitana? Talisa Soto played Kitana in both movies, while Sonya was played by two different girls. Obviously, if they have Fujin and Quan Chi in this movie, it's going to be set in MK4.
