To win you can't lack Patience.. I tried to rush and win and it never works... But with Kung Lao I found it easiest to win like this:
1) Shang Tsung - keep throwing the hat at him and avoid getting close (to conserve health) until he turns into Reptile. Then keep doing the jump kick attack on him.. he won't be able to change back into Shang Tsung... just keep kicking him all the way around the ring.. You can get over 200 hits on a combo doing this.. Shao Kahn will say "impossible"..
2) Kintaro - keep throwing the hat and doing the jump kick attack when necessary (if you time it just right you can keep using the jump kick on him without him ever hitting you). If you starts jumping just try to jump to the spot where he last landed to avoid getting stomped.
3) Shao Kabn - This one has been everywhere .. but if you did like I did.. by the time I got to Kahn there was the Life from Jax in the corner and The life from Shang Tsung and Kintaro for Kahn. Keep throwing the hat or Kintaros head as much as possible and avoid getting close. When he gets the hammer keep long jumping and double jumping and keep throwing stuff at him. By doing this and having Patience it should be pretty easy to win.

For me, just using evasion non-stop with direction allows me to avoid getting hit at all, and pretty easily. Just time his attacks so that you have full energy to evade like hell once he starts spinning.
Meanwhile, stick to ranged combat.

People, it depends on the character. Let's look at Scorpion. He may not be much in the projectile department but look at this. Shang Tsung is easy enough: wait for a projectile attack, then use the teleport attack, then spear follow with fire ender combo then repeat until defeated. For Kintaro, teleport with projectiles, then wait for him to try and stomp you without teleporting and hit him with that combo twice because he will move back or when he taunts at you. For Kahn, use the teleport attack to avoid his projectiles and his charges. Same for when he has his hammer, but remember to keep your distance. He should be defeated easily.

Eh, I'll just stick to constantly using the jump kick with Kung Lao. Easiest way to do it.

you guys i need help too, i am ko-opingwith my buddy, i am sub zero, he is scorpion. we can't get to shao kahn with a good amount of health. and when we do it really pisses us off that no matter what tactics or specials we do he doesn't buge. same with kung lao and liu kang. we are lost and confused. plus if you guys want to beat kintaro easy, have one guy hit him, another guy keep hitting him, while the first guy to hit runs away on theopposite of kintaro. it's kinda confusing but it works

honestly if u jus consentrate you can get to shao kahn without getting hit. like for shang tsung use ure avg. combo but make sure u stop just befor he counters it. when he is reptile he wont counter it, so go nuts on him. then kintaro if your subzero just slide through his legs back and forth and you wont even get touched and he will die in 3 minutes, then you use your acquired health upgrade that you got from jax, for beating kano. and the health from kintaro's death and you should have close to fulll health

The best way to do it with Kung Lao in the first half is to just use the hat throw and keep moving around. Atfer he loses his helmet, keep using the hat throw when he's trying to hammer you. When he starts his spinning swing, jump up with kung lao and keep using the jump kick. This way, not only are yu avoiding that damn hammer, but you're also doing damage.
