Rain was a kool kharacter unlike SF's Dan who just gets thrown around a lot.
Joke kharacters kan become very popular with a franchises' fans causing the joke factor to be removed. Guess Rain just didn't kut it.

Some characters just crash and burn right at their creation.
I don't think Rain is one of them characters.
Rain is such a powerful character, and really not to be taken lightly.

As long as we got the good ol' MK Team workin on it, I'm sure it'll be fine. Just as long as Warner Bros. doesn't try to make too many changes... or try to make characters like Eurocom tried to in MK: Gold. I didn't have anything against the idea of Belokk, but... you don't try to sneak anything past the MK Team. That's just wrong.

Honestly, I always thought of Rain to be equal to Ermac.
When they suddenly appeared in UMK3, I thought of them as side-ninjas.
Subzero, Scorpion, Reptile, even Smoke and Noob Saibot, all of them appeared in earlier games, so these two were just... 'Meh'...
But I would still want them to come back as they were, this Ermac being a million guys in one body is almost a Shang Tsung thing.
Wth?...

Well, unlike Rain, Ermac made a name for himself. He does have a storyline, and a rather convincing one to say the least! Was evil at first until Kenshi found him and freed him. To show his gratitude, Ermac taught Kenshi the art of telekinesis. Ermac was free to choose his own destiny, and so Ermac choose to redeem himself and right the wrongs he has done. He played a major role in Deception. Rain... didn't go very far.
