I heard this game is going to come out in oct. 2006, but do u guys think it's true. I hope it isn't because, I don't want the mk team to rush this game and I hope this game is worked on until late 2007 or early 2008.

I would say that it is possible, but I think spring of 2007 would be a little more likely. Where did you hear about the release date?

I think that an October release date is possible, especially if the team has been working on the game for a little while. it's possible, since Deception was released in October of 2004. if they started working on it in the beginning of 2005, then it would most definitely be possible to have a well-rounded game by October of this year.

Well, didnt Ed Boon once say that once Deception was released, he was going straight to work on the next game? And if they do want to do the whole "1 game a year" thing, that'd mean they'd have to.

They've been working on it since Deception was released. It'll be done in whatever fashion it gets done. Remember that when a magazine/website obtains exclusive pictures of a game, it is usually quite a few builds back. And since they are more than likely using the MKDA engine (MKD uses the same engine) There is less to program into it. Mostly artwork, some new fighting styles and the such. But the basic game engine (which is where most of the programming eats up time) has been finished since MKDA and is only needed to be tweaked here and there. The rest is storylines, endings, mini-games, etc.
I could actually see the game ready to ship by May, but that would just be the fighting game, and they'll want to pack it with everything from Create - a - Number to Konquest. But the core game should be way done by May. Think that May -> August is mostly for testing and cleaning out bugs. June -> September is for writing the manual and having it published. July -> August is pressing the actual discs. And Sept. is shipping it out to places that will sell it. Normal stock time is between 3 days before and 3 weeks depending on the place and if they have to send through a distrobution center. When I worked at K-mart it usually was about 2 weeks ahead. When I worked at wal-mart it is the Monday Truck the week before. There is an exception, when I was working electronics, we got pokemon Ruby/Sapphire by UPS ground the morning of the release. But got the toys 3 days before. lol At k-mart you got a free pokemon plushie for preordering. One of each kind disappeared though. >> << I don't like pokemon, but they could be collectable some day...

to Shoe,
yes you are on point, i worked at Wal-Mart and they get things like new releases a week before they are to come out, and it says on the side of the shipped box that there is a severe penalty for selling even a day before schedule, but like you said there are exeptions like when the X_box 360 was shipped it arrived two days before it went on sale. but games come differently i guess

Wanna know why Wal-mart does that? (This part is off topic)
The year was 1996. I remember it well. My mom and I were in Wal-mart, and they put it on the shelving the N64. But it was 3 weeks before the release date.  Said I. Mom snapped that baby up in no time, with SM64.
But there's a reason why there's a release 'street' date. So that all stores have the same chance to sell the system as any other. Equal rights to competition. So that companies don't show favortism.
Well, Wal-mart had decided to sneak the system off early despite federal law. Lo and Behold, Wal-mart was not allowed another N64 until the spring of 97. Other stores got to restock and Wal-mart got to watch as their sales on that holiday season slumped.
That's why you have that label on there. Wal-mart could have been fined for it, but Nintendo figured a distrobution cut off would be enough of a punishment.

Hmm...I bet it'll come out in October. I don't think Mortal Kombat has missed even an unofficial release date before.
