As usual, I do know what to say. "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
I usually modify that to the double negative though. ^_^
Wiccan, like any other religion, practices the same form of magic. Some call it prayer, wiccans call it magic. Though a true Wiccan shouldn't dabble in all forms of Necromancy. Since necromancy also involves forms of diseases. The term is usually just glazed to Talking/Raising the dead. But it isn't limited to that. It also includes curses and diseases.
Any true wiccan would be appalled by that.
But to start trying to burn someone alive (or in the Americas hang them), would be idiotic. Prayer is just another form of 'magic'. Which is nothing more than a change of will power to a desired result. If one hopes hard enough, there will be a change. Even the wiccan guides tell you that praying for money won't help you. You may not win the lottery, but you could have the money necessary to pay your bills. That would be grand if it wasn't for the fact that a person worked to get that money in the first place and was going to happen whether or not they had performed the ceremony.
Since there's no time frame for such requests both in organized and non organized religions, it must work since it happens eventually. And all religion allows for "If it don't happen it wasn't meant to be." Which is a B.S. slogan for: It don't actually work, but don't bail on us yet.
I found that not praying works around the same capacity as praying to any particular object or non object at around the same percentage.
Yet, wiccan, like any other religion I approve of, gives hope for a better tomorrow. And that is one of the fundamental needs of a sentient being. That they hope that tomorrow will be better today. It (usually) should make a person strive to make their and another's life better.

I really dont practice the religon any more, not enough freeness. Hence I am no an Elceclit Pagan. And I mainly use the dream spells from Wicca. And the most I do now adays is Energy Channeling. Lets get back on topic.
