DOA 3......a GREAT game. I bought DOA 3 with my X-BOX the release date of the X-Box (Nov. 15, 2001). I STILL play the game to this day because it is the greatest fighting game I've ever laid eyes on. No DOA 3 does not have blood, gore, and fatalities. However, the gameplay was awesome (for all of you that called it a button smashing game). It was not by far a button smasher. If you knew the moves and knew how to perform complex moves it wouldn't be considered a button smasher guys. DOA 3 is a button smasher for people that didn't spend the time learning the game and each character's moves. To answer the poll question however, I do feel MK:DA will be a better game, but not by much. The fatalities and complex characters will make it a better game, graphics will also be a jaw-dropper. I've played the MK series since it started and I think MOST of us have, so not to disrespect the starter of this poll, but comparing the two is ridiculous. No one here will put DOA 3 on top.....it's a MORTAL KOMBAT ALLIANCE NETWORK!!! _________________ I'm back once again......I'm in need of a new avatar......Anyone that may want to help send a PM

This is what I consider to be a button smasher.
A game in which a novice that has never played the game can beat a master which has been playing it for months simply by smashing one button over and over.
Of course a master will figure this out and then work around it but still.
This will happen most often in DOA3 and in VF4.
In Tekken 4 this is not likely to happen, hardly ever since it is harder to do combos. Because you need to press Left punch, Right punch, Right kick, instead of pressing Punch, punch, kick in the other games.
You dig? _________________ The talon is the key to life or death.

I think we are all missing the whole point here as to why MKDA will kick the sheeet out of DAO3. What is the one thing that MKDA has that DAO3 does not? A STRONG STORY LINE! That is one of the main reasons that I want the game I want to see what is going to end up happening..who kills kang, who wins the tournament if any, who are the hidden characters, and so on...I think that is just one of the many reasons that MKDA blows the DAO3 out of the water! _________________ Revenge is a dish best served cold!

You know what, to tell you the truth, I couldn't care less about the story. All I really care about is the game play. It is all about the fighting for me. _________________ The talon is the key to life or death.

Actually, DOA 3 has somewhat of a storyline. It's not a very understanding storyline, but most of the characters in DOA3 have some sort of connection. I'll agree with you about the strength of the story line though rain_drop. It's definitely not a strong story line, but it does consist of a story amongst each other the featured characters.
As for "bleed", then you can almost take any of the fighting games out there (notice I said 'almost') and consider it a button smasher if that's what you base it upon. A novice can beat a master at it's own game on several occassions on almost any game. Of course, like you said the master of the game will figure out a way to beat the novice, but usually by that time the novice have adapted to the game some to come up with a strategy of their own. DOA 3 is not a button smasher though. _________________ I'm back once again......I'm in need of a new avatar......Anyone that may want to help send a PM

You are correct. Every game can be a button smasher, only that in some games people have a better chance of winning by doing so.
I Don't really care if a game is a button smasher though. As long as I know how to play, and I get to play someone who knows what they are doing. I hate when new players figure out how to do a combo, then they keep doing it over and over ..............
I just do reversals over and over, or wait till they make a mistake.
I have noticed from playing all the new games with other people that Tekken 4 is the hardest to have a chance with when they just mash the buttons as fast as they can.
You must notice how people do better in the 3 button games, you need to be blind not to see it. _________________ The talon is the key to life or death.

I agree with you on playing someone that uses the same move/combo over and over and over again because they think they learned something. I also agree with the three-button system being an opening for button-smashers across the globe. DOA 3 is based on a three button system, but even for the simple-minded gameplayers (button smashers) seeing his or her character do the same move over and over again tends to be annoying to even them. I do know that these people are out there, but I play fighting games only with those that have some idea of what their doing. I get tired of NOT getting a challenge. _________________ I'm back once again......I'm in need of a new avatar......Anyone that may want to help send a PM

I hear you. That is why I love to go to the arcade, usually I find some expert to play against. At home nobody knows how to play. I just set the computer to hardest in tekken4, and leave it on normal for VF4.
I wish that DOA3 was harder to beat. The computer does beat me sometimes like 3 times in a row on time attack, but usually I beat the game straight with any character. I hope team ninja fixes this for DOA4. The computer in DOA3 hardly ever blocks. They either take the hit, or do a reversal.
But I still love that game. I like it more than VF4. _________________ The talon is the key to life or death.
