I made this post becuase while I was playing MK3, I noticed something, I can't descirbe it, but I need to post it.
The Mortal Kombat Factor
Mortal Kombat is a game of brutality that we all know and love. A game of a group of hand chossen warriors that are chossen to save the world from a evil threat. Mortal Kombat is not just a game of fighting, but Martail Arts, were opponents test thier might against each other. The game have cought the minds of millions acorss America and the world. Many were grossed out by the gore and voilence. Many never really noticed the blood, just played the game and enjoyed it. If the world of was missing Mortal Kombat, the world would be black....and white. Now it's time to breakdown the MK history.
The Gameplay
The Mortal Kombat Gamplay was based on digitalized actor spirites. Where a character you choosed would be a person that actually posed in all those moves. The first three MK games featured side scolling action packed battles. The digitalized sprites are actually 2d, not 3D. In the first Mortal Kombat, characters would be able to jump, walk, or even flip at their opponent. The gameplay ran smoothly as the battle progressed. From MK1, to MK2, to MK3, the gamplay ran better.
The Backgrounds
MK would be nothing without levels to battle in. These level that fighters would battle could be very deadly, or just a average arena. For Example, the first ever fatal battle arena was, The Pit. The Pit is a level where you fight on a slim bridge, high above a view of mountains, and to make it fatal, bellow it layed a large pit of spikes. Many warriors have died after falling into them, giving the place a name called The Pit. In each Mortal Kombat, their was always a pit stage. There were some other stage fatalitys like the acid pool and the ceiling full of spikes. The battlegrounds are fake, period. The digitalized actor sprites are placed in those battle grounds before a match is started. Many people thatplaye Mortal Kombat have always had a favorite background. Some were fatal, some were not.
Without the battlegrounds, MK wouldn't have been a success.
The Actors
MK was a hit, a great hit. Many people have played the game and really didn't pay attention to the ending credits. Well, they should.Without the actors, MK would have never existed. Take some actors for instince, like
Ho Sung Pak, he was the real Liu Kang. He was hired by Midway because he was a incredible martail artist. He did a good job as Liu Kang in MK1 and MK2. In MK3, he didn't appear as Liu Kang. There were also actors such as Katlin Zimiar, who played as the lovely Kitana in MK2. Then there were actors that played high roles, and even in live cinematics. Take John Turk as one of them, he played the role of every male ninja, Sub-Zero, and Shang Tsung, in MK3, UMK3, and MKT. He then played the role as the chilly assassin/ninja Sub-Zero, in Mortal Kombat Mythologies. He palyed a very high role in the MK series. Many actors have come and gone, alot of them wern't payed much for there effort and time. Most of them did it becuase they were doing it for Midway, the MK series, and it's fans. So many should respect the fact that actors are there for the MK series. If they didn't participate in a MK game, they would have to use some other guy at their company. So it's like this, the actors (when you play as them) are putting on a show for you, so if you see Scorpion do a jump punch, that's actually someone placed in the game as a animated sprite. Most of the actors knew martial arts, like Ho Sung Pak, Daniel Pesina, John Turk, and a couple others. So the MK fans should be thank full that many of those people gave the MK series a good name.
The Characters
MK would be nothing without characters, there are many original characters that started the series, like Liu Kang, a monk from a temple of the order,
Kano, a deadly thief a fighter that is wanted in 51 countrys around the world. Sub-Zero (original) is a theif/assassin/ninja all in one, he plays a role in his very own game, Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Scorpion, he is a undead ninja who just hates Sub-Zero and wants to kill him so badly. He the sole mascot of Mortal Kombat. Then thier is the sexy Sonya Blade. She is a cop that has attitude. She is tracking down the killer named Kano. Then everyone elso came along and made the series even better.
The Fatalitys
Mortal Kombat is loved and know for it's brutality and blood. Where character wrench the guts from each other, but behind all of that, lays a special finsiher, called a fatality. Fatlaitys are know for you or your opponent finishing you off for good. Fatalitys were a essence to Mortal Kombat, what would we do without them. Alot of Fatalitys were very bloody, or very strange. People all around the world always had a favorite fatality, some were nice and brutal some almost hurt the series. My favoites so far, are fatalitys that have to do with decapitations, or Impaling. Then thier are fatalitys that could of hurt the MK series, lke the Kiss of Death in MK2, where the lovely kitana kisses her opponent, then there insides begin to inflate, and explode. Then their is Kabal's head inflator, where he pumps his opponents head with air, then it explodes, that one gave me a laugh, the others need to just move on. Fatalitys have captured the minds of millions of people, including us. For that MK is a game of Life VS Death.
As long as fans get their weekly dosage of a fresh, brutal fatality, they will be happy.
The Danger Has Passed
In the MK series, Actors were needed becuase without them, there would be no characters for the series. In MK1,MK2,MK3,UMK3, and MKT, characters where 2D. In MK4, the danger has almost passed, they needed little of the actors to use as the character sprites. Now, in the future, the danger has passed, MK can now be done in complete 3D, with out actors or anything. So they don't need to worry about the actors, now that they got three demensional characters and worlds. So there is no worry about actors quiting now, they just need to worry about if there is going to be a game error.
The Mythologies
In the MK series there are three characters that played in there very own game, those warriors are, Sub-Zero, Sonya, and Jax. These warriors stares in there own games. Mortal Kombat Mythologies is about a chilly ninja/assassin named Sub-Zero (original) who is tricked into stealing a amulet that could seal the fate of earth, so Rayden gives Sub-Zero a breif on what he have done, Quan Chi, a free roaming sorcerer, stole the amulet from Sub-Zero and was going to give it to his master Shinnok so they can take over all realms. Sub-Zero manages to stop Quan-Chi (with some help) and has a brutal battle with Shinnok. He then returns the amulet to Rayden, and goes home. He is then asked to compete in Mortal Kombat afterwards. While all of that happend, Lt. Sonya Blade and Major Jackson Briggs (AKA:Jax) were on aa mission to track down Kano. A deadly theif and murderer. I have't really played the game, but they do find Kano, fight him, and end up also participating in Mortal Kombat. In the end of the Mortal Kombat tournement, Sub-Zero is killed by Scorpion. Sonya is taken captive, and Jax must rescue her. To keep the series alive, a new Sub-Zero came along, they younger brother of the original, and a couple years later. His brother emerges in the Ultimate tournement. Then the truth was, it was just a long missing warrior from a differnet realm, who was wearing a blue ninja garb that possed freezing powers. Sonya and Jax keep there original state and survive all the tounements.
So basically, everything I just typed up is the factors or history of Mortal Kombat.
