I was thinking if they use the same way of fighting (2 fighting styles and 1 weapon) and there are 60+ characters that means theyre going to have to make 120 fighting styles and 60 weapons now in the previous versions such as Deadly alliance their fighting styles were already starting to copy eachothers eg. pulse balde, ninja sword etc. now i find it hard to believe that if they already had trouble with 60 styles (as many used in Deception that they can find that many styles or make up that many without copying eachother.

Note: I have nothing against the new game just a bit concerned

don't think that your concerns are falling on deaf ears. I've been wondering about that myself. but there are hundreds of different martial arts styles, some similar, but still having definitive traits from each other. I'd say that the MK team is doing their research, so they shouldn't have a really hard time finding all the styles for each character.

besides, some characters like Goro and Drahmin use fighting styles that are exclusive to the MK universe. maybe they'll expand that to other characters.

what do you guys think?

well they dont really have a choice do they! Fight styles like Shokan, Crab, Netherealm and Kuatan are all unique to MK, plenty more can be made. Weapons, well since theres 60 fighters I reckon 20 will get swords/knifes, another 20 will get lances/spears/staffs and the last 20 get weapons like axes/clubs.

I thought Crab was a form of Kung Fu.

But didnt it say in Deadly Alliance that the Crab fighting style was taught to Reptile by his ancestors? Perhaps it is a real fight style, im not too sure

Every fightin style, except for the ones that have Mortal Kombat names, are real. You can't go by what it says in the games.

I don't have a problem with them making up fighting styles.

Hell.....that might actually be a fun thing to incorporate into the create a character mode. Obviously it would probably be far too complicated to actually do, but it would be cool if we could. You'd be able to design a stance, movement and striking techniques. Perhaps you could use some kind of character model, and actually direct how his hands/feet move for specific attacks.

I imagine they will use some styles for more than one character, they have in previous games and it worked ok, as long as the character's second style is different. For example, I think one of Goro's in Deception is Shokan (can't be too sure as I don't own in), he will probably have this in Armageddon and more likely than not it will be given to Sheeva also.
