The PC versions just cause too many problems, and if you don't have a game pad for your computer, good luck with MK3 and 4.

Its been too long since I played MK4 to remember if there are any major gameplay differences between PSX and N64. But, I can clearly remember how much better the graphics were for the N64. PSX and PC are not all that different in graphical quality. Neither are very good at all. N64 isn't even that great but the graphics are better.

In previous mk games for Nintendo systems, the gameplay has traditionally been butchered, it could be the same with MK4. Also, PSX has full motion video endings that I thought were pretty cool, so does the PC. But, N64 has real time game quality graphics to tell the endings, and I didn't think they looked quite as good. That really isn't too big a deal though. Its not like the PSX ones were ground breaking or anything, just kind of nifty.

Yeah, I prefer the N64 myself, but I've always been a Nintendo finatic. MK4 wasn't one of my favorites though, 3d sucked back then.

If I had a Dream Cast I would get Mk Gold definitely because of the extras. In fact I don't have N64 I just hard it was better than PS and wondered why,
I have the Ps and PC.
But I'll get it for the PS.
I've tried looking on the net but can't really find anything, I can only find it on Ebay and it's like £14.
If any one knows any where I can get please tell me,thanks. Smile

Pretty much the only place you can get N64 and PS games is at a Pawn Shop. But they never have what you want. Boring

It feels wierd talking about MK4 in the Classics Section. It feels like only a year ago when I remember the N64 just coming out, and buying Super Mario and Mario Kart. MK4 just a little bit after that. It's depressing how time leaves all your good memories behind you.

EB Games stores have mountains of N64 and PSX games whenever I visit, include MKT, MK4 and MKM:SZ. Perhaps they aren't too widespread, but there are definately lots of copies chillin out there.

MK4 for PC I have not seen since I bought my copy (like 9 years ago) so that I could play it on my awesome P200 laptop. I still have it around here somewhere. Last time I took it out it was just so that I could edit characters in it to see how funny they looked.

Does anyone know why the Pc version of MK4 wasn't the best; because when the other classic MK games were released, the Pc version was always the best; interms of graphics, sound, speed and controls. So why wasn't MK4 on Pc the best ported version?

MKT was best for PSX, not PC. MK4 was best for N64, not PC.

The PC version of MK4 had very low quality graphics, the polygon count was hideous. It was designed to run on very old computers. I remember when I picked it up I used to run it on a P200 laptop with 2 megs of video ram. Thats some low requirements right there.

The PC version was not really made to take advantage of the better 3D hardware that was available for PCs at the time, and definately wasn't designed to be upgradeable. That said, people have made hacks to increase the max number of polygons you can have in the game, and people have ripped the higher polygon count models out of MKG so you can put them into MK4 for PC. Also, you can get some simple apps that let you pull the graphics for the game out, edit them and stick new skins in relatively easily.

But, even with the updated character models and everything, the game still looks pretty shitty.

MKG is the next best thing to the arcade. N64 comes after that. I'd say the PC version is better than the PSX version, but only with the upgraded models and the added fun of skin editting.

Get yourself Sega Dreamcast and Mortal Kombat Gold, you won't be disappointed. I only have some minor bugs with mine because my friend bought me a used copy so it sometimes glitches up. However, 99% of the game is flawless and I enjoy playing it to this day. More enjoyable than MKDA in many respects too!

DC is great for fighters. If only they had made a version of MKT for it.
