Playable is definitely Sektor.
Non-playable is definitely Motaro (I'm a sucker for sub-bosses).

Sub Zero came really close to pwning everyone in MK3. Jax was also extremely good. But, Kabal was the best character. Totally overpowering. They toned him down in UMK3/MKT but he was still the best there as well. Jax sunk to the bottom of the top tier in UMK3 and poor sub became a low tier.

It's a very tough call, Sub's broken iceclone really makes him devastating, expanding his combos significantly and lots of accidental freezing situations, like if he gets hit while cloning, or JK a blocking opponent and iceclone while they are blocking, stuff like that. Kabal is essntially UMK3 Kabal because te damage winds up being about the same with the jump punch and jump kick starters in UMK3. His saw properties are a little different but they don't change much. Jax is up there because of his missiles pretty much, but I think overall, Sub has an edge on them, it might be a bit harder to win with him, but he is more dangerous per combo.

Yeah his gun did add a lot in UMK3. On its own its not super powerful but for use in his easy infinites is insane.

I rarely use his gun. I mainly use my super special combo, (in MKT) which consists of Riot Kulbb Throw, Riot Club Sweep, Uppercut, Double low grenade/high grenade. And in MK3, I just use a regular grenade.
