Alright guys, this is an important one. Right now I'm in a huge debate over Metallica vs. MegaDeth. Apparently, my extensive knowledge of both bands just isn't enough for this kid at one of my forums, and I need opionions from other people.
So tell me, which band is better? Metallica? Or MegaDeth? Give me some good reasons please.

aren't they the same band?
seriously, most of their songs sound exactly alike to me.
but I do like "Symphony of Destruction". that's a goodun. =)

Depends on the time period. MegaDeth was usually a bit faster with their music, while Metallica had a slower, yet heavy type of music. MegaDeth's lead singer, Dave Mustaine, was at one time part of Metallica.
I'd give my opinion, but I want to wait until I've gotten a bunch of everyone else's.

The older stuff of Metallica is definatly the best. After their S&M cd, it they went to hell. But i love the classics, like Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman, Whever I May Roam, Dr. of Pain, ect...

Id go for Metallica as well. Their greatest hits IMO would have to be Nothing Else Matters, Unforgiven II, St. Anger, I Disappear, Seek and Destroy.

I'll never let him off, I don't care how good of a drummer he is.
So yeah, my opinion on the matter. Both bands are amazing, and they've got some great stuff. However, Dave's writing isn't all that great, and his vocals make me want to stab him in the jaw. He formed MegaDeth out of revenge, which is a shitty reason to create a band. He caused a whole load of crap back in the early 80's, which is why he was kicked out of Metallica. While Kirk didn't always have ground-breaking guitar solos, Metallica was better overall.
