Woah, Jabbawocky is making a new topic, unbelievable!

Anyway I think there was because something always seemed to go wrong for this film. First thing I can think of is that Cameron Diaz was going to play Sonya Blade but had to pull out because she broke her wrist, Jean Claude Van Damme was offered to play Johnny Cage but went to do Street Fighter (poor choice on his behalf) and then Brandon Lee was chosen to play Cage and was killed before filming began! (the Van Damme-Lee incidents may have been other way round). What do you think?

Thank God Van Damme didn´t play Johnny. I don´t like him. But Cameron would be great as Sonya Smile

Sounds like just those two positions were cursed if anything. but the sequel was doomed from the beginning (cough...bad movie...cough) Sure Robin Shou was pretty good but James Remar is no Raiden.

I think that the first one was cursed to spawn horrible sequels. Hopefully this isn't the case though, because I really want to see a good third one.

The first movie could of passed. I think it stayed in the story, even though Hollywood stepped in a few places, and I actually liked it. The second....well...it SUCKED. The third, I hope with effects and excellent graphics, I think should be good. I think it would be better if they made it a rated R film.

I'm really glad that none of them got the parts for Sonya or Johnny Cage. I think they were cast perfectly.

Bridgette Wilson was awful as Sonya. They definitely could have done much better.

I thought the first movie had an excellent cast. The second movie blew it big time by changing the actors of Sonya, Raiden, Johny Cage, etc.

I thought that one of the better parts of the first MK movie was the actors who played the roles.

Heh, I'd claim all that to be odd occurences, but guess what?

Trevor Goddard (Kano) and Gregory McKinney (Jaxx) have both died since shooting the first MK film. Goddard died of an overdose in 2003, while McKinney had a brain aneurysm in 1998...

Coincidence? Or something more...

What I really hated about the second one was the complete lack of explanation about Cyrax, Mileena and Baraka. They just appeared, had a fight, and disappeared. Bah.

And then there was that utter nonsense about SHao Kahn and Rayden being brothers, and temporary passes, and that terrible feel-good bit when Jax realises he doesn't need his metal arms after all. I say again: Bah.
